If that story is even remotely true that just shows how abysmal our non playing captain Vermaelan actually is!

What self respecting captain would allow a former captain who fked off to a rival or any team for that matter to hold what is essentially a captains speech to the team ...... I mean WTactualF!!?

Could you imagine Vieria allowing that or Henry?? how weak minded and leaderless is our team that they are getting pep talks from the opposing team, friggin laughable.

How is it a captains speech? Or even a pep talk? If the quote is true, all he said was basically well played, you gave us a good game and I can see you finishing in the top 4.

Hardly a big speech or anything.

Hardly a made up story in my opinion. The Daily Star are PHWs buddies. I'm not saying PHW has given them the story I'm just saying why would they risk damaging a relationship with the head of Arsenal for some made up story.

Anyway its a nothing story,

Not sure it is made up you know this was from Wenger...

It may come as no surprise that Van Persie visited the Arsenal dressing room after the whistle.
Wenger revealed: “He’s in our dressing room at the moment — because our food is better than in the away dressing room!
“You know people who play together for five six years.

Because it's completely unheard of and makes it look like RVP is bigger than the team.

It is a pep talk when your encouraging a team to get into the top 4.

I'm not saying it's life changing I just think it makes AFC look weak that we need a United player to pat us on the back in the dressing room.

How does it make RVP look bigger than the team? He played with us for years and will still have friends at Arsenal. I believe he will also want us to do well. I bet if the comments came from someone other than RVP your opinion would be different.

..so meet them at the bar/players lounge AFTER the match!!

Jesus, RVP coming in and patronising all and sundry in the home team dressing room.

WTF Wenger? He might have no personal pride in having a player he sold to United come into Arsenals dressing room and say "well done lads, you gave us a great game and are doing really well chasing 4th place" but for many ARsenal supporters, this is just wrong.

What next - SAF coming into the dressing room next season to tell all the Arsenal players that they really are working hard as a team and did well to get into the knockout stages of teh CL?

If Wenger allowed RVP into the home dressing room, then he is a bigger pussy than I thought.

He's gone. He should have met his mates in the bar, or in Brazil where Santos is.

ray kennedy when he came back with liverpool and swansea
liam brady when he came back with west ham
john lukic when he came back with leeds
viv anderson when he came back with man utd
kenny sansom when he came back with newcastle and qpr
stewart robson when he came back with west ham
michael thomas when he came back with liverpool
kevin richardson when he came back with villa coventry and southampton
david rocastle when he came back with chelsea and leeds
niall quinn when he came back with man city
nigel winterburn when he came back with west ham
steve bould when he came back with sunderland
paul merson when he came back with villa
kevin cambell when he came back with notts for everton and west brom

david seaman when he came back with man city
ray parlour when he came back with boro
patrick vieira when he came back with juventus
sol campbell when he came back with portsmouth

bobby pires when he came back with villareal
kanu when he came back with west brom and portsmouth
kolo toure when he came back with man city
gael clichy when he came back with man city
senderos when he came back with fulham
why even on sunday there were pitchside interviews at half time with fabrice muamba who came back with birmingham and bolton and martin keown who between his 2 arsenal spells came back with villa and everton.
now i,m not saying that midmatch bonhommie should break out[ask andre santos how wise that is].
but i think it would be much odder if a player who spent time at our great club did,nt have the where with all to talk to players and members of staff that he built up a relationship with post match.
i would also expect the topic of conversation may turn to football rather than the state of the economy or the latest show at the tate.
we are in danger of becoming the daily mail of football going many miles to be offended so we can call it our doorstep.
he left
we were wrong to let him leave while he had a year on his contract
he,s statement was ill judged but sadly precient
lets get over ourselves

Starman I actually can't tell if your agreeing with me or not lol, but if your not I'd like to see a former player try and walk in the Man Utd dressing room to give them a pep talk after a game, Fergie would glass him.

I don't mean turn up for general chit chat I mean holding court with the team which is the way it was portrayed.

Also I don't think we were wrong to let him leave, it was worth 25 Million to us and a seasons worth of drama and headache (Media wouldn't have let it go).

We need people at the club who WANT to be here, what we did that was wrong/stupid was we didn't use that £25 Mil on a replacement, that's what was unforgivable.

Giroud at £12 Mil is not a replacement.

i think its how it was portrayed that is the problem mate
i think with the emotions around the issue its been hyped beyond a reasonable interaction between a player that played at the club and ex colleagues
you are probably right it should have took place in the bar
