The thing that made me most happy today is that our attack wasn't concentrated down the right hand side, there was so much variation they got bombarded from all angles and just couldn't deal with it in the end.

Really impressed with pod, giroud, wilshire And of course Walcott who really did steal the show. Walcotts display today was just fantastic all in all, to think, he could have finished the game with 4 goals and a hatrick of assists is phenomenal. The assist for giroud was a proper cross, the last goal was a mic of skill, determination and technique to get the hall over krull a shoulder at such a sick angle.

Absolutely buzzing about that performance, but as others have said, you supplement this team with more quality instead of think they can make do because of a massive result here and there.

We still need a brute at dm, we still need another winger if theo gets moved up top more perminantly. And they've got to have class, we can't buy players who need to learn a lot, we need people hitting the ground running.

away from the fact we let in 3 goals we kept going playing some decent effective stuff. we didnt get our boxing day fix but we got a dose today of what we have to build on. the way we've started to play since the Reading game, our old stuff is how we need to play but obviously tweak. Giroud came on with a feel good in his step. Ramsey and Coquelin too. im gutted Giroud didnt get a hattrick too with him being soo close to it.

that little kid heard clearly on ESPN continuely chanting 'Come on Arsenal' has put a proper smile on my face :D

Yes, it was awesome, really good atmosphere today, unlike the usual, when we win, people leave early, game dies down, after the 6th goal the crowd knew his is one of those results and games we wont see for a VERY long time.

Barely anyone left early.

when is the last time Arsenal had a 7-3?

Had a few 7-0's (Boro, Everton and Standard Liege) a 7-1 against Blackburn, another 7-1 at Villa when Ted Drake scored all 7. But i dont think we've had a 7-3...

Havent done that since the 1930's! 7 seems to be our limit though apart from a couple of 12-0s at the end of the 1800's and 8-2 against Manure in the 1950s.
Not counting pre-season games btw. (like 10-2 against Burgenland in 2008)

Now why can't we play like this every week ? Great goals, especially Theo's last one. And Wilshere's run to set up Podolski, brilliant.

Theo, just sign it already, you don't want to be the next Wright Phillips/Adam Johnson/Jack Rodwell do you ?

Defensively, this was almost the same as the game against Wigan when our FBs had been exposed regularly. Sagna is not as safe as before. Gibbs was definitely at his worst in defending. I think he was worse than Santos yesterday. I still don't know where Gibbs was when Marveaux scored. Our FBs have been great in attacking, but they should do better in preventing crosses. We have a cleansheet against Wigan because their crosses were terrible, they don't have a striker like Ba and Mertesacker has saved us so many times. I don't want to sound negative, because actually I am very very happy with our win, but I think Wenger and Bould should do something very quickly.
About 4-4-2: What about 4-3-1-2 for a change? We have Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby, Coquelin, Ramsey in midfield. Cazorla is a perfect AM, Ox did well against Milan in this position last year and Rosicky is also a great option. Upfront we can play Walcott, Giroud, Podolski, even Gervinho or Chamakh occasionally.

aniym wrote:For some reason I want to see Walcott in a CF role. He didn't really nail the role in the last game, but he did score in the previous one I think in that position. I have a weird hunch that a high-profile game like this is exactly one where he can bag a couple of goals playing down the middle. Giroud might crack under the pressure, especially as Freeloader said, we are statistically due for a loss right about now.

whose statistics are those then?
we have not lost a home league game after winning 3 league games since hull beat us 4 years ago
