Agree, we missed him badly today. The kind of player who makes a 4-0 lead seem so much more comfortable.

Ironic then, that he was the reason we drew with the toon ;)

had you blamed diaby for getting sent off at bolton for a reckless challange when we came back from 2 down to win 3-2 to keep our 07/08 title challenge it would have had credence.
much as i hate the excuse culture engedered at the club
we were robbed at newcastle
joey barton was lucky to stay on the pitch after a shocking 1st half tackle on diaby
missed by phil dowd
he then went thru the back of arshavin
no free kick or card
barton then went right thru diaby and while you can,t raise your hands it was a tame shove
he then gave 2 very soft penaltys
we even scored late on when on another day rvp could have been deemed level
but newcastle had a good goal chalked off as well
dowd is the ref that played phantom time at sunderland allowing them to score just like we were given phantom time to equalise in the league cup at reading another factor was losing djourou on 49 mins
he was in the form of his life having conceded 4 goals in 1057 mins a record any of georges famous 6 would have been proud of
laying the blame at diabys door is unfair

You hear the club gave them all £10 gift vouchers as Christmas gifts? What a nice gesture.

Not all the blame obviously, the ref deserves a lot as well, but you can't possibly excuse him of blame when he gets himself sent off at 4-0 up. Not the refs fault that. He pushed a player unnecessarily and it gave Newcastle the momentum

EDIT: And Joey Barton is ALWAYS lucky to stay on the pitch ;)

i don,t excuse him of all blame.he should have been professional and walked away.
but having had his leg broken i guess he is still disturbed by unchecked thuggary
we win and lose as a team and going down to 10 men is no excuse for losing a 4 goal lead but
when you are defending your goal and a ref gives 2 free shots at it i guess he is giving half a helping hand

From memory, none of their goals were legit. The two scored from open play wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for two hilariously bad free kick calls in their favour. Oddly enough, the only legit goal they scored was chalked off. Not to mention Nolan and Barton should have been sent off at least 4 times between them. That was the single worst refereeing display I've ever seen... and that includes the 06 world cup match where Graham Poll denied Australia 3 ridiculously blatant penalties and took 3 yellow cards to send a player off
You know you're doing shit when you're worse than a guy who can't count to two.
