This was the fear I had. A few weeks back, when we moved clear of Spuds and more recently after the Chelski game, I checked the remaining fixtures of the 4 fighting for the remaining CL spots and honestly, I looked at them thinking "Norwich will come as unknowns, play like it's a Cup Final, can we handle it?" Well, we know the answer. And I don't go into the WBA thinking that we're favourites. Which is ridiculous looking at the league table, personnel, respective budgets etc. Season upon season now, when games have truly mattered, the truly definitive ones, we've faltered. It's depressing beyond belief. We don't the mentality in our personnel to carry our reputation. Alot of lower placed teams play us a Cup Final, partly knowing that we're vulnerable, partly cos it's a chance to get a scalp against a historically big team. Our lot ain't up for it. The loss of Arteta has completely unbalanced the midfield and in effect the entire team. We're so vulnerable through the middle, there's no flow or control in our possession. Ramsey, I have to say, I don't know if he will ever fit in the formula of a team that Wenger wants to play. For me Ramsey doesn't find the space, isn't mobile in small spaces, doesn't see the early, decisive pass. Yes, he's got a great engine, he tries hard etc, but that's what he looks like when he's playing right now... a trier. He's trying to do something that another world class midfielder would do and make look natural.
Oh, well, I said in a post on another thread, maybe we need a season out of the CL. This current squad can't sustain a serious challenge on all levels, i.e PL, CL and F.A Cup. We're not a league winning side, yet we try to win the big 3 and we fall short. A season out of the CL, a concentrated league challenge and cup challenge with an improved squad might mean we win something, and therefore install a belief, give that experience of getting over the winning line. We tried winning everything with a young squad and often got massacred in the big, decisive games and that affects a player's mentality, the mentality around the whole club. There's alot of scarred players.
