Half the reason Gervinho was in that position was because TV was coming down the middle...

Did you notice that just as TV scores Gerv is trying to help the ball in by doing an 'air-shot'?

Gervinho was way out of position when that cross came in. he didn't even go for it. He just stood there. Thank god for TV for hustling the entire field. Goes to show you who has the determination

Nah I don't think that's the case.
He was in the right position to score that goal and if TV wasn't there he would've definitely got on the end of it.

Whether he'd of actually put it away is a different matter of course....

He wouldn't have gotten to it. First, the cross was deflected so that took pace off the ball. It wouldn't have reached him.

Second, he was just standing there with no intention of pouncing on the cross. He even had one foot in the air so he was stuck in that position if TV hadn't come in.

Third, he was way too far out. Maybe 10 yards.

I just saw the replay.

I'm not slating him. I'd figure being a professional, he'd have that instinct to actively go for the ball for the winner instead of waiting the ball to come crawl to him

Can't see that. He was at the halfway line when Theo put the cross in.

Of course, exaggerating a bit. But Gervinho can't be waiting out of position in hopes of a centre back running in for a cross

If you watch the replay again, you'll see him move out of the way of TV because he knew he was coming.

You're being ridiculously harsh on him...

He knew TV was there, they were running side by side for about 60 yards. Gervinho is the widest man, his role there is to say on the back post. What happens if he does come in too far and then the ball deflects over his head? You'd crucify him for be out of position then.

You can see it larger here: http://player.arsenal.com/

He moves out of the way about two seconds before the goal is scored. Imo he is just aware of someone coming in beside him.

Agreed Inch, that move started from a Newcastle throw in our own defensive corner... they knew where each other were, they'd been running side by side more than half the length of the pitch.
