Did you see the pitch? He spilled one shot the entire match, and that took a massive bobble, everything else he held or put out.
What the hell do you want him to do for the goal? The guy's one on one for crying out loud, if Sneezy covers the far post, the striker will have an even easier finish at the near post. Sneezy has been slipping lately, but this was one of his better games lately. Some people will never be happy.

Thank you for the compliment ;)

May be in your eyes Szczesny was not to fault for the goal but its clear to me it was soft goal he conceded. From that angle a top goal keeper as you rate him should not be getting beaten as simple as that.

One of his better games hmm may be then you can give me company in not knowing anything about keeping :1970_two_smileys_drinking_beer_together.gif:

i thought he had his angle wrong for the goal but there has to be a mistake for the ball to even get there for the shot in the first place..

thats the thing about being a keeper you f**k up it's in the net

but he didn't f**k up
it would have been poor positioning if Sneezy had covered that shot, as it would have left his near post gaping. The finish across the keeper is far harder, and Sneezy made him go there and the striker was good enough to score. Nothing more he can do.

so your are saying thats was an impossible shot to save?.. one step over to his left and i think he would have saved it and still covered the near post enough..

where the striker put it, yes, it was an impossible shot
the Sunderland player was so close that if Sneezy had moved any closer to the near post it would have left it open

sorry going to have to agree to disagree i guess i think he was to close to the near post.. if he had his right foot where his left was that would have been plenty enough to cut the angle off and still close enough to cover the near post..

+1

With proper positioning and footwork a shorter GK can cover more area than even a taller goalie with a much broader wingspan. Szczesny , had he been an yard to the towards the center he could have comfortably covered the near post as well as the far one. i am not saying it was a howler but for a top-keeper that was a bread and butter save.

i'm no GK expert but I think the shock of Merts slipping played a big role. If Szczesny had been anticipating that run by McLean then he would have saved it.

You guys are expect waaaaaaaaaaay too much of keepers if you think he should have saved that.
One on one and nearly inside the 6 yard box? You're joking, surely? Really, you have to wonder why Kos didn't put a challenge in to put some pressure on the shot, he had all the time in the world to pick his spot and blast it.

This part i agree . Kos should have done more to prevent him from taking a clean strike at the goal. So mert slipping, kos not doing enough and finally Szczesny's wrong positioning cost us the goal. I can't exactly divide the blame but all three contributed to the goal one way or the other.

Sneezy's position allowed Kos to make the challenge, Kos just didn't do it
if Sneezy had left the near post open, Kos wouldn't have been able to get anywhere near it
