This.

Santos' last couple of games for us were a joke. Unfit, caught out of position, not eagre to sprint back when called upon......the man was a liability. And it's not like Bayern wouldn't notice his inadequacy. They would test him once in the opening few minutes, run straight past him and decide to do that for 90 minutes.

No, i would feel more comfortable putting Sagna or Verm over there. At least they would put in the effort.

official: http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archiv ... -to-gremio

Andre Santos has joined Brazilian side Gremio for the remainder of the 2012/13 season.

The 29-year-old defender has featured 36 times for Arsenal since signing for the Club in August 2011.

He has scored four goals in that time, including one in the Gunners’ crucial 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion on the final day of last season, to help secure qualification to the Champions League for a 15th consecutive year.

An experienced Brazil international, Santos has previously enjoyed success in Turkey with Fenerbahce and in Brazil with Corinthians, Atletico Mineiro, Flamengo and Figueirense.

After finding opportunities limited this term, Santos now returns to Brazil’s Serie A - the Brasileirao - for more regular first-team football.

Everyone wishes Andre well for his time with the Tricolor

:) Good luck to him

Hopefully there will be a massive clear-out of deadwood this summer, at least 6-7 players should go...
Fabianski's and Arshavin's contracts will expire while Squillaci, Bendtner, Santos, Chamakh, Denilson and Park should be sold as well.
Whether it will be possible to offload these players will depend on their contracts, how much the board wants them gone and how much they actually wan to go and play somewhere else for a much lower salary.

Wish you luck, Santos. I won't miss your defensive works, but your away goals against Chelsea and WBA won't be forgotten. Adios.

Whether or not you thought he was poor this has weakened the squad further, we already let Djourou go with no replacement and we are facing a defensive crisis.

Wenger's underhand tactics in this move has pissed me off - We are considerably weaker now than we were in December. Just remember though that there were no quality players available...Ba...Sissoko...Gouffran...Debuchy...Coughbollockscough.

im picking AW would rather gamble with a squad player or one of the youngsters than santos and for once i agree, ultimately we should never had bought him but i for one thought someone with 20 brazilian caps would be better.

I feel sorry for him, he does try his hardest but unfortunately for him it's not good enough. Seems like a nice fella.

Looks like a nice lad indeed but we don't need nice lads, we need good players.

Best of luck to him

He's most likely being sold in the summer.

I cannot understand the people who are saying his sale will weaken the squad. Now as everybody knows i am no fan of Wenger but loosing Santos weakens our squad is it?

He was never going to play at LB even if all our Leftbacks got injured.

He could have been an option on the left hand side but wait let me guess the number of players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Podolski
Cazorla
Gervinho
AOC
Arshavin.

Now how on earth he could have got another games is totally beyond me. Yes Wenger has made the biggest blunder by not buying anybody apart from Monreal but to say him loaning Santos is a ridiculous decision is being a bit too silly. I strongly believe loaning deadwood players like Santos, Chamakh and Djourou is a step in the right direction. I also believe sending Frimpong out on loan is a good move for both parties. Getting deadwood players off the wage book has been a demand of all gooners and now that a step is taken in that direction, peopl.e are still crying foul. We need better players, not some random bodies like Santos and Chamakh to make up the numbers.

Denilson, Chamakh, Park, Squillaci, Santos and Bendtner should all be offloaded ahead of Djourou imo.

Arshavin's and Fabianski's contracts run out in the summer of this calendar year so they will definitely be gone.
