Footballer Park Chu-young, who has had to stay on the bench for three consecutive games for Celta Vigo in Spain's Primera Liga, is facing mounting criticism from the local media. Vigo's local newspaper Faro de Vigo on Thursday pointed out that Park gets paid 3 million euros, of which Celta Vigo pays 600,000 euros. Although the language barrier and cultural differences may make it difficult for him to adapt, nothing can explain his poor form, the daily added. It added that although Park's acquisition was expected to bring changes to the team, nothing changed. The player managed only one offensive point in four or five games with two goals and one assist in 15 games. Park played a total of 572 minutes, which translates into over 1,000 euros per minute, it said. And as Park's playing time in club shrank, he failed to be selected for the Korean national squad that faces Qatar in a World Cup qualifier on March 26. Last month, another local paper, Atlantico Diario, described Celta Vigo's acquisition of the Korean striker as a total failure and his performance as well below expectations. The barrage of criticism in local papers suggests there is dissatisfaction in the team as well and the two sides may soon part ways.
