They would usually walk around the pub with a bag full of really bad copy DVDs quietly saying, "DVD."

It used to be a thing, not so much now, that in pubs and clubs, and markets, you would get people selling pirated DVDs. Typically these would be Vietnamese / Chinese / Oriental people

Over here it was black folks selling them, but they got them from the Asians.

"Did anyone complain?"

That's almost satire to say that in this day and age.

Nobody complained.

They just got all sad faced and apologised after sacking him.

If they could have they might have hanged him. Filthy racist that he is.

Loads of people especially Spuds fans complained on Social media, even AFC put out a statement about it.

When do people not complain in this day and age?

Claude will have to go back to boring the pants off anyone in his immediate vicinity - unless he wants to start his own youtube channel.

Some idiots would watch it. After all - they watch AFTV.

Makes sense.

In the same vein, do y'all have the problem of people peddling their shitty CDs along the street? Or has that taken a backseat in the era of SoundCloud and YouTube?

The good old days of bootleg DVDs haha

I remember the first one I saw. Went over to a friend's house for Shrek 2 and could barely see a damn thing because someone's head took up 1/4 of the recording.

^ Yep. Those were popular too where the person would just buy a ticket to see it at the theatre and then record it, copy and sell.

I had a friend that use to get shipments of DVD's illegally. Usually about 1 out of 10 were duds though and didn't work at all. I never asked where they were coming from though. He just said "the Asians". Ha!

Tbf I'm glad tech moved on because my DVD shelfs are stacked 6'5 ft high.

I only ever buy Blu-Rays now if and only if the film is great and the action / effects warrant it.

So, something like Avengers or Star Wars I'd get on Blu-Ray or like a new Sci-Fi film, basically the effects have to be great and the film top notch otherwise no more hardware for me, taking up too much room.

If the effects are good though I do feel Blu-Ray is worth it for the crystal clear immersive visuals as part of the enjoyment, but something like Godfather just doesn't need Blu-Ray quality.

My next Blu-Ray set is likely to be Game of Thrones.

Still buy DVDs. Branching out to blu rays though. Infinity war and endgame were blu ray acquisitions.

Got 2000+ DVDs. Doubt I'll stop buying them

I'm British and I've never heard of it being used as an insult.

But apparently every usual word is suddenly an insult. "Slope" for instance was somehow magically decided to be another insult to asians but no one had any clue.

You not a computer guy then?

All your 2000 movies fit in my one PC, ready to be used whenever I want and take up no space.

I keep my DVD's because their paid for and no point throwing them away, its still premium viewing (720p quality) but I'd never buy anymore, if I buy any more hardware its simply because as you must see the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray, the visuals on movies like Infinity War is amazing in full 1080p glory.

Got rid of 90+% of my DVDs last year. Kept some blu rays of some of my favourite films.

But the rest went to the charity shop, and all of the kids films (my kids are grown up) went to a disadvantaged family we know who have a couple of young kids.
