I like a drink as much as anyone but you simply don't need booze at airports or on flights

Because it's in small quantities, is limited by the stewardesses and you're not allowed to drink your own on a plane. Plus, they don't let you on a plane drunk anyway as you'd be turned away at the gate if you arrived intoxicated.

Even small amounts of alcohol can cause someone to become drunk at altitude

Theres simply no need, and duty free is usually crap anyway

If they are getting drunk on a tiny quantity of booze, all I can say is they clearly must be lightweights! :)

I travel a lot on business, and it’s lovely to have a couple of gin & tonics on an evening flight home after a hard day.

Except it’s not at altitude, it’s a pressurized cabin! Anyway, why should the stupid minority ruin it for the rest? I like a beer on the plane.

Equivalent to 6,000-8,000 feet. Drinking + mild altitude sickness could affect some people coming from sea level.

Still though, would be a dumb rule to implement. Flight attendants have been trained to know what symptoms to look out for.

So you're cool with other people being regularly searched by the police when they go to buy a pint of milk in the name of safety, just so long as no-one takes away your G and T in name of safety

Oh that one is simple.

Its the same reason America sells guns to members of the public.

It makes money.

Alcohol makes the Airports millions, if they lost that revenue that £100 flight to Spain would end up costing £220.

Sometimes you have to just accept that income is needed in certain ways, employees need to be paid and private businesses generate their profit anyway they can.

Unlike some socialists who think money grows on trees.

Airport retail space is hugely valuable. They'd find new products to sell. It would effect duty free retailers but give them time to adjust their business, downsize their retail space and sell the space to new retailers

Its not that difficult

Two completely different things.

One is done to prevent serious violent crime. The other is done to relax when flying home after a law-abiding day's work.

Until someone throws a f***ing strop while pissed up on a massive flying machine, thus disrupting the safety of everyone on that flight and underneath it.

It's the same thing mate. You being penalised for others inability to act normal on a plane while pissed is comparable to random innocent people getting stopped to hopefully weed out the 0.001% that might be carrying a weapon.

You just dont like the idea of alcohol being banned on flights because it directly affects you.
