He'll be the PM who was a weak negotiator and took unnecessary gambles, one too far that cost him his job. He certainly won't be remembered as that homosexual rights crusader that he wanted to be known as.

Don't get why a lot of people are blaming him for this. A referendum was the democratic thing to do. It's not his fault your population chose to leave

I'm a labour voter, but he was a much better PM than he will ever get credit for.

I actually think he's taken the cowards way out, we voted him in, he should of served his term.

Unless his position has become untenable in the Conservatives after the loss, if so that's understandable.

Cameron had the balls to give us a referendum, Brown ducked out of it on the Lisbon treaty. Cameron should have stayed.

This whole Brexit fiasco deserves a mini series in the vein of The Thick of It.

He had to because UKIP were gaining momentum and he made that promise to avoid losing seats (which certainly would have happened in Thanet and Boston for example) If he pulled out, the tories would have taken a serious pounding at the next election like the Lib Dems because he knew what would happen if he double-crossed the voters over that.

So in the end, we all have Nigel Farage to thank for giving us the choice.
