There would have to be very strict safeguards but I think euthanasia could work and could be made safe from exploitation.

The procedure I would want to see would be something like ;

Terminally ill patient approaches their hospital consultant, who must agree to the request

A second consultant must also agree

A process then takes place where the police are informed, this is to ensure that the person in question has not previously been a victim of crime by anyone likely to benefit in that person's will. A full will must be supplied to the police and criminal records checks made on every major benefactor.

Reports from all of the above people can then be considered by a High Court Judge.

Importantly, no case should ever be allowed to set any president. Every case must be a unique ruling.

the whole thing is kinda flawed if you think about it. The proposal aimed to give people with 6 months to live the option to end early.

But then if someone can end their life 6 months early why cant the end it a year early or 10 years early or even 40 years ealrly? What convincing arguement can propose that justifies one but bot the other.

For example for example if the government want say they will allow 6 months before to give people some personal responsibility then you need to ask yourself, if you're only allowed to do it 6 months before is it truely personal responsibility? Why should the government or a doctor tell people when it's appropriate to kill themselves if people are allowed to kill themselves etc.

If they approached it from the we want to end suffering and pain angle then pretty basic arguments can be made against this also. Why should someone who has 6 months of pain be allowed to opt out early whilst someone with a chronic illness may be in severe pain for decades without that same option. In fact if pain is what is to be avoided then the youngest sick people should be the first to be euthanased seeing as they will live with it for the longest if you follow that rationale

It should be your life your choice.
