American Politics

I know American politics affect the entire world, so I thought this would be a good discussion. The first domino has fallen — Hillary Clinton has announced she is running for President (1:30 in video).

Personally, I cannot see any Republic candidate who will come remotely close to challenging her.

Is she nailed on to win the Democratic nomination then? Who are the Republicans going with?

Hilary will win at a canter - the voting is just a formality.

The Republicans are a shambles of a party rife with quacks.

Yeah, it's basically a foregone conclusion that she's going to be the Democratic nominee. Back in January, she had something like 80% of the party behind her. Now, that number is likely to approach 100% party support.

As for the Republicans, the main potential candidates right now are Jeb Bush (16.5%), Scott Walker (15.3%), and Ted Cruz (10.5%). If I were to bet on things, I'd say Rand Paul will come up from behind to become the Republican nominee. But honestly, it's a complete toss up right now with over 23 candidates and no clear cut nominee.

As long as there are no blue suit dressed men in the Oral office, I'm okay with that.

Is Rand Paul the son of Ron? Are his policies similar?

Yes and yes. I personally think they're both nutty as hell. Same goes for Jeb Bush who hails from a batshit crazy family—brother of George W. Bush and son of George H. W. Bush. And not to mention Ted Cruz who denies climate change. Republicans are absolutely insane. And many Republicans still completely overlook the entire separation of church and state. If the rest of America wasn't here to keep them in line, I'd be living in a theocracy right now

Aye, the Republicans make our right-wing politicians look relatively sane in comparison.

might as well not even have the vote.

last time was the first black dude
this time its the first woman
next time it'll be the first gay person
then it'll be won by the great great super great grandson of a former slave freed by lincoln

maybe by 2050 everyone will feel equal enough and we can have a normal vote.

You're making it sound as if it's fixed, though.

Basically it's Hilary or some next f***ing quack.

It's Hillary by a landslide. The Republicans are in shambles right now.

Even Bush was considered to be a "progressive" Republican ffs.

That's a good thing actually. 50 years from now, Obama would be considered one of the most important Presidents in American history.

I'm looking forward to Clinton vs Bush II next year.

Mind you, might be more interesting if it ends up being Clinton vs Trump,
