What?
This is ridiculous.
You have to do better than that.
Also again ........... how did Trump BENEFIT?
Did you even bother to read what I linked?
The dots aren’t that hard to connect.
1. Russians created fake profiles on all three major social media sites (Facebook, Reddit, Twitter) .
1a. Facebook: Fake groups sewed discord between the right and the left by taking both sides of the aisle, with many also aiming to hurt Clinton and bolster Trump at the same time.
1b. Reddit: r/the_donald is a cesspool of the alt-right, constantly spreading asinine propaganda and stirring hatred and violence. And what’s a big makeup of that cancerous subreddit? Russian bots, that peddle bs conspiracy theories and manipulate Reddit’s upvote/downvote system to get that cancer to the top (aka, the most visible posts); the bots are also noticeable in other subreddits.
1c. Twitter: @Ten_GOP was a Russian account made to look like the official Tenneessee GOP account. In total, there were over 50,000 accounts linked to Russia's election influence efforts.
2. The drivel on all three sites received views and people shared the Russian propaganda, leading to more people seeing and sharing, and so on.
3. The short-sighted Bernie Bros/Bernie or Bust crowd were disillusioned with Clinton—with many choosing to abstain from the election or wasting their vote on Jill Stein/Gary Johnson—even after Sanders came out in support of Clinton. Trump supporters hated Clinton anyway, and the propaganda succeeded in adding fuel to their already burning fire.
4. The Russian propaganda—likely aided by Cambridge Analytica knowing who to originally target to get the ball rolling—had the biggest effect in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, where Trump only won by 77,744 votes combined (44,292 in Pennsylvania, 22,748 in Wisconsin, and 10,704 in Michigan), and thus, the presidency. It’s not a huge logical leap to assume at least 77,744 people across those three states were influenced by and turned by the propaganda.
4a. You’d have to go back to 1988 for the last time Pennsylvania went in favor of a Republican presidential candidate. Pennsylvania was at least D+2 in every presidential election since 1992.
4b. You’d have to go back to 1984 for the last time Wisconsin went in favor of a Republican presidential candidate. Other than 2000 (D+0.2) and 2004 (D+0.4), all elections were at least D+3.
4c. You’d have to go back to 1988 for the last time Michigan went in favor of a Republican presidential candidate. Michigan was at least D+3 in every presidential election since 1992.
4d. If it still isn’t clear, all three states were Democratic strongholds for longer than I’ve been alive. Without Russian influence in our election, Clinton likely wins those three states and secures the presidency with the electoral vote 278-260 in her favor. (Comey releasing the memo a week before the election due to Republican coercion would've been win moar if it wasn't released, and imo, Clinton would've won regardless of the memo if it wasn't for Russia.)
TL;DR: Trump won because a few glue sniffers fell for Russian propaganda. If you want to keep your head buried in the sand and continue to ignore the big ass, flashing neon ‘X’ on the treasure map, then that’s your prerogative.
Reddit,Twitter and Facebook.
Your generation is so keyed.
Let me tell you why I think Trump got elected which is a lot more factual than hardly anyone hanging around online accounts.
At the time of the election the Left were running around bashing anyone who disagreed with them by calling them a racist, they were even doing it on Question Time (British show) so I know it was happening big time in America.
The average Joe was feeling like their rights to free speech was under attack because of this.
Two, the Democrats had simply not done a fkin thing for the public, for all their talk of equality and love, they had done bollocks all and I remember at the time the general public simply felt they couldn't trust politicians, Trump wasn't part of Washington and that's what people were drawn to.
Trump spoke like a non-politician and promised to act, I think people felt who were traditionally Democrats that this approach was worth trying as it was a once in a life time opportunity, even if they didn't agree with everything he said, when was the next non-politician going to come if ever?
................ this is why he won, Russian hacks had fk all to do with it, and if you believe they did you are reaching beyond belief.
I forgot to add a lot of Democrats liked Bernie Sanders, Clinton had a lot of shine kicked off her because of the way her and the Dems fked him over.
Even me personally had more respect for Sanders, but Washington hates him (because he wants change) I even said at the time Sanders vs Trump would of been the philosophical debate of our time ......... two men who mean what they say, Clinton made sure that debate never happened, you got one half of that debate, Trump!
Fk Russian hacks, that is BS.
