What about the birther conspiracy? Was that racist?
Because Trump started that...
Incorrect...and no, questioning the status of an individual who is President or about to become President is not racist. It is a matter dealt with in the Constitution. Being a minority does not exempt one from being questioned on Constitutional issues.
The reasons the questions were being asked about Obama is that the issue had been swirling around for years - not because he is black.
How come Obama is the only President to have his country of birth questioned?
Why did questions swirl about it for years?
You can say it's not racist but it definitely seems coincidental that the only time a birth certificate has been an issue was when it concerned a half black President.
It's not the only time.
Firstly it was an issue at the very framing of the Constitution.
Since then Obama's was the 6th challenge to either Presidents or presidential candidates - as recently as John McCain when he actually ran against Obama! That required a Senate resolution to declare he was eligible after several lawsuits.
Prior to that, Mitt Romney's father's citizenship was questioned when he ran in 1968.
Before and after Chester Alan Arthur became president in 1881, his campaign rivals spread rumours that he was born in Canada and wasn't eligible to be President - including planting stories in the NYT.
Stop leaping to the racism card.
Perhaps think about why you just assumed that there had never been any questions about others...
