Yup ... and a Senate that will appoint literally 100's of life-time conservative judges who will have far more impact on the next 30 years in the US than The House can even dream about ....

Trump's not right to call it a 'win' but in keeping the Senate he's probably won where it matters .... when the post election 'noise' calms down it will be interesting to see what the real impact is ....

Just to correct you slightly, it disproportionately favours certain geographic voters, as they can vote for who they want that's not Trumps fault, it comes under Article One of the constitution, amended by the Seventeenth Amendment in 1912 ... doubt they had Trump in mind when they wrote it ....

No but conservatism was a thing back then, and rural areas of the US disproportionately vote Republican. What I said was correct.

Well, it was an awful map but still, this makes things hard for 2020.
On paper, those senate elections are way more balanced.

Republican targets:
- Alabama is surely going back to red unless they run a pedophile again.
- New Hampshire is the other seat they'll have to defend.

Democrat targets:
- Arizona is a pickup opportunity. It's close this year, and it can be close in 2020.
- Colorado I see going back to the dems. They lost this seat in the awful 2014 midterms when their voters simply didn't show up. Will be hard to hold on to for the republicans in a presidential year.
- Georgia will be a target, but by no means easy.
- Iowa turned blue today, and will most certainly be targeted in 2020
- Kansas is a stretch, but they did win that governor race handily just now.
- Maine will be a battleground.
- North Carolina

But all will of course depend on the presidential election and the dem candidate.

The only question the Dems should ask themselves is who would Trump least like to face

Hilary is not that person

If you look at the numbers she would win the Dems nomination by a mile ... that says more about no credible other candidate than about her ... following the success of the 'healthcare' advertising in the midterms she knows that's her strength ... the issue for the Dems is they will just get the same voters as before, Hillary will never appeal to the Rep base or even many 'swing' voter, I doubt she can get the black vote out again either ... the Dems need a broad appeal but when you're a centre right party up against a more right party the only way to go is turn left ... the US voter is not ready for that yet, or are they?

The way I see it is they either need to get someone who's just as nasty as Trump and doesn't give a toss about it getting personal, or (by American standards) a left wing radical, or both. Think Bernie Sanders with a baseball bat

Even if Clinton runs again there's no way she wins the nomination so it's a moot point really

I like how nobody cared about the Saudi-led coalition bombing the shit out of Yemen with US bought weaponry (including that school bus where they killed 40 children) but one journalist dies and everyone loses their mind. I mean. they should react how scummy the Saudi leadership really is, but why only now? This is why i hate American exceptionalism. They will lose their mind over this shit or the fact that some feminist got arrested in a Middle Eastern country but they're still carpet bombing innocent civilians on a weekly basis and doing shady shit all over the world.

It's lucky we've got little warriors like you knowing what's going on in the world.

Personally I'd never heard of Yemen or the fact the Saudis have been awful to it until you just brought it to my attention

My post isn't about Yemen or a Journalist, it's about Trump getting court out lying repeatedly.

A politician that lies? now there's a first ... Trump talks a lot of utter shite, but he pretty much says what he means even when he is being a dick ... there aren't many politicians who can claim that ... maybe Corbyn?

The fact is Saudi murdered one journalist ... the US have killed dozens in air strikes around the world ... being blow up in a planned air strike, or being suffocated in an embassy front room ... you're still very dead ...

Where was this outrage two years ago when Serena Shim (a US journalist) was murdered by the Turkish security forces after exposing their ISIS support (look it up) the Turks made up a laughable 'car crash' story which the CIA dismissed in seconds ... what did the US Government do? hushed it up and had the media kill the story ... Obama even refused to answer questions, so that was that ....

The worlds is full of double standards, pretending that the murder of one journalist was ever going to change 50 years of US policy in the Middle East, who believed that for a second ...

Deflect, deflect, deflect

Trump has been caught with his pants down, lying his head off, and all you've got to say is all politicians lie.....

Justify that bullshit he just said in that video. Go on. He just lied about job figures to the extent that he could be ~ 1 million off the mark....

Do you not think it's a problem that he openly lies so much?
