Not cigarettes. done a couple very drunkenly on a night out and my throat always makes me feel like a proper cùnt for doing it the next day. Rather take care of myself anyway.

Enjoy shisha though, have some french housemates (well they just left) who did it twice a day so that happened...

Other stuff not really, done weed a couple of times, was ok.

Youngie wrote:Just curious to see how many people smoke. Personally i stupidly started smoking at 17, so never smoked in school. Been smoking for 10 years now and certainly not feeling another 10. Have stopped on few occasions, and 9 months stretch and quit for 6 months to. Its all going the E-cig way but that's really not my thing. Anyone got any tips or guidance on how to quit would be much appreciated.

Different strokes.. Had smoked most of my life yet kidded myself it was ok to continue as I've been fortunate to inherit naturally healthy genes... Foolish I know.. Tried without success on numerous occasions, gum, patches, mints etc... Tried e cigs and they helped but I'd just had enough & 3 months earlier I had a lung capacity test & they were 7 years older than me!!! So took up running, stayed on e cigs and 11 months later had my next medical & had knocked 5 YEARS off the age of my lungs.. THAT is plenty enough to keep me off them... No magic fix really, you've just gotta want it badly enough.

I smoke 1-2 cigs a day and more on a night out only.

I'm not addicted to cigs, I could give them up completely if I wanted in fact if I smoke too much my body rejects it, in fact not long ago I did for about a month, my only weaknesses would be on a Fri/Sat night out, a cig and a pint goes together like jam in a doughnut.

Some things are just mean't to be together, like me and Chanel Preston (ah yes, google is your friend and for those who already knew I salute you).

Didn't do anything for me when I tried it. Knew it was bad for you, find it a digusting habit anyways so didn't pursue. That stale fag smoke smell is one of the biggest turn offs in the world.

Dad smoked when I grew up, so very much got used to the smell. Now I've moved away and occasionally visit. Whenever I come back all my clothes and my hair really snell of smoke. Foul smell.

Don't understand why people smoke to be honest. If you need something like that just to get through the day maybe it's time to reevaluate your life. Also quite selfish with passive smoke and your family watching you die early from cancer/emphysema.

UFGN wrote:Its a filthy, primitive habit that should have died out with the Romans.

An MP came up with an interesting idea last year. Ending legal smoking in a generation by imposing a 'rolling age restriction' on those born after the millennium. It would see the age restriction increase by one year every year, banning them from ever buying cigarettes.

I actually enjoy smoking but want to smoke for health reasons.

As good as that idea is, how would we make up the tax loss? And the answer isn't 'with less people needing treatment from smoking it won't matter'. I honestly wish it was as easy as that suggestion though.

I sometimes think cigarette and alcohol taxes run this Country.

Used to smoke from age 20 - 23 then moved on to weed. Don't smoke at all now and don't miss it.

The danger is going back to it when under a lot of stress or going through a bereavement/break up.
