The Euro

Debate about anything going on in the world. Please remember, everyone has their own opinion.

The Euro

Postby gzagee » Tue Dec 14, 2010 8:01 pm

I'd just like to open a discussion/debate about the Euro. As of now it seems that it has been flawed and Britain's abstainance may have proved to be a blessing in disguise. Yes the GBP isn't faring very well but it would seem our exports are still worthy purchase abroad. Who knows what state the UK economy would be in if Mandy and Ken Clarke had got their way :dizzy:

I'd like to know what our brethren on mainland europe think about that single currency. Do they think it has done a power of good? Or has it become an albatross? How do you feel about having to prop up the Greek economy? Their plight kinda smacks of a modern day twist on Greek Mythology (budding Homers insert ode here).
Would you be happy should the Spanish & Portuguese come calling with their begging cups?

What do those who live in Britain and are Pro-Euro think about the current situation?

Do the Irish feel they are being forced into accepting the emergency package offered by Merkel and her cronies? Do you think your govt should just accept it and try and get your economy back on track? Or would you rather those Europhiles kindly feck off back over the water?

Your thoughts?

The Irish government should be taken out and publicly hanged. That would be a start. Then they should bloody lower taxes for a bit. When your economy is in the shit whats the best way to get out of it? People working and spending money of course. If taxes are continually raised then people wont spend. It's not rocket science. Stop taxing the hell out of small business owners so they can actually provide jobs for people, and stop taxing joe soap up the arse so he will spend money. They think a tax increase will help but its counter productive.
Governments spent their way out of they great depression, they provided jobs or people who in turn put that money back into the economy. These morons think taking more money off people will actually help, no it wont Einstein it will makes things worse.

All this financial crisis has done is allowed the Germans and french the leverage to control our country . We have signed away any control we thought we had through the gross mis-managment by our government over the last ten years or so. The showers of idiots - They sold out to the Bankers and developers. The amount of jobs that will leaves this country if the Germans and French get their way in taking away the low corporation tax in this country will leave it a wasteland - Emigration is already starting

I dont know about Ireland or USA but that only works if the goverment have money to spend, Labour spent to the max and therefore is not alot left.

All the school building projects that have been axed would of been goverment funder with no return because schools lose money rather than make so imo thats false economy to build them just for the sake of giving people jobs when in fact it wont help.

Taxing of people, yes people will spend less but if you do have spare cash when you do you weekly shop at Tesco, you'll buy a DVD, game, CD, etc so spending but problem is majority of Tesco's are split into several companies which are based? you guessed it, in a Tax Haven so any profits dont get taxed again not helping the economy.

I dont know the answers of course part from its not as simple as 123, but joining the Euro would of been a major mistake as you cant control bits of your currency, France and Germany seem fine yet Greece and Ireland are going down the pan.
Also as Dejan said, everything has rocketed in price.
