Time Traveller?

Postby TheLittleMozart » Sat Oct 30, 2010 4:54 pm

This video has been quite a big talking point on the internet recently... In this 1920's charlie chaplin video, a woman walks through a shot and appears to be holding some sort of device against her ear. A lot of people have been saying its a mobile phone, casing the 'time travel' reactions.

But the starnge thing is it does look particullarly like she is holding some sort of mobile phone as as no technology of that type was even remotley invented they, whats your opinions on what she is holding?
Even the placement of her hands around the 'device' looks simliar to which you would hold a normal mobile phone....

Its a stange one that no one can really explain :Peace:

It does look like she is talking on a mobile but if you look at the very last close up, when she turns it looks like her fore finger and index are kind of open a bit. Not that you can really say for sure of course.

Not a chance...

There are probably hundreds of other possibilities, but since it looks like a phone and he plants that idea in people's minds they overlook or don't think of other possibilities.

She could have just been messing with one of those huge ass earrings women wear.
Could have had an itch and was sticking her finger in her ear.
Could have had a cut on her ear and was holding a handkerchief to it.

I could go on and on...

Point is, that video is nowhere near clear enough to tell anything. But there isn't a time traveler...

And let's just overlook the fact that a mobile phone would be useless anyhow... since there wouldn't have been towers to transmit the signal, nor other people to talk to...
This space used to be more fun...

Yes she is a time traveller because she has her hand nest to her ear.

unless of course she was using some futuristic device that didn't need a cellular tower, and could communicate through time. the only thing i don't like is her shoes. WTF is going on with those pointy damn shoes? even for that time period, they're atrocious.

Were there any phone towers round at that time?

Thought not.

Anyway she just could be scratching her cheek or fixing up an earring, I dunno

Interesting, she's definitely holding something to her ear.

A quick check on google shows several hearing aid devices used around that time:

An ear trumpet

This device when extended is about 6 inches long

I dunno, I think there's less chance she was a time traveller and more likely someone with hearing problems
