I haven't got a clue to be honest. All I know is it made me grow up pretty sharpish!
I still went to friends, had friends over, went out on the town (thanks to my mam really as she has had Shannon every friday night since she was around 6 months old)
But that was the only break I had which I guess I have always been lucky.
It certainly made me appreciate my mam a lot more.
umm, I don't really know what else you want to know
Regrets? A few...but I have a gorgeous 8 year old daughter that outweighs them.
I have been reading depressing 9/11 and iraq war articles/threads all day so i am glad to read a happy statement like that. I cannot wait to have kids myself (despite the world i would be bringing them into) and i am glad it has worked out well for you Trina
I started a debate with friends the other day asking "what is more important, the intention or the consequence" (generally speaking) and while most of my friends said the intention is more important, i think this is a topic where the consequence is paramount.
The consequence of lowering the age will undoubtedly be more and younger teenage pregnancies. Trina sounds like a fantastic mum and role model and she has had family support which is great and consequently the outcome is positive. If every teenage pregnancy, whatever the age, was to likely have the same outcome then i may be in favour of it.
However will a definitive majority of teenage parent/s (a) be responsible (b) have a stable family life and (c) have adequate support for the situation. Many will be/have i imagine but such a change will require (imo) a big majority and knowing teenagers today and knowing the family situations of today i do not think under 16's are fit to be parents (as a whole). I would be wroth, if my voice hypothetically counted, to let such a decision pass.
It is hard to keep sex away from young teenagers that is true and some will do it anyway but there are many who will not have sex under 16 because it is illegal or taboo and to lower the legal limit will also bring these teenagers into the mould. I personally think 16 is a sensible age and is not too late in life and therefore think it would be sensible to keep it that way.
