Open carry: Good or Bad?

Postby gzagee » Thu Mar 11, 2010 10:29 pm

Should it be a human right that folks be allowed to carry guns openly in shopping establishments?

The arguments:

Pro open carry group: http://www.opencarry.org/

Businesses in dilemma: http://www.personalliberty.com/news/bus ... -19652114/

State considers outlawing 'open carry': http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2010/0310/ ... -gun-right

Agree or disagree?

I'm all for people being able to defend themselves but this is just waiting to be exploited.

It should be harder to have firearms not easier. We should be working on prevention not apparent cure, which isn't a cure really, it's open season on shooting people and claiming self defence.

Aha, but aren't licensed gun owners trained not to be gun-toting John Rambos?

Wouldn't they only use force against those who have concealed weapons (i.e. criminals)?

Guns = murder. More guns = more murder. All the stats back it up.

The answer is, if someone has a gun, give them the money.

Its not a surprise that the US has the highest murder rate in the developed world when issues like this come up.

You guys couldn't be more wrong.

Washington DC has historically had one the highest murder rates for any US city.

They have had a gun ban for years...

They recently lifted the gun ban and the murder rate dropped massively.

Oh yeah we are just killing people left and right over here!!! It's a madhouse! I have to put on my Kevlar vest every morning!
