Facebook - I only have people I know in real life on there. What gets me is when people I went to school with but who I barely had one conversation with send me friends requests. I enjoy pressing the 'ignore' button in those cases. What is good is that I managed to get back in contact with people who I was really good friends with but lost contact a few years ago as we all moved away after university. It is also good for arranging days/nights out as I can't get a mobile signal at home and being a bloke I'm not big on phone conversations.

Twitter and Goonersworld - the only thing I talk to people I don't know about online is football. I got hooked on forums when I commented on BBC 606, it took over from championship manager as the thing I do when the Mrs is watching boring stuff on tv. On twitter I only ever talk about Arsenal, but I do follow as many Arsenal fans as I can. I guess I am a bit sad because I do like looking at my rating on wefollow's twitter directory. Apparently I'm currently the second most influential Arsenal twitterer http://wefollow.com/twitter/arsenal !

I guess more people either follow me or re-tweet me :dontknow: I don't post that often, usually just before and after games. But I follow a lot of people. If I'm bored I just sit down and search "Arsenal" for people to follow.

Interesting thread

Gza, You should read a book called "God's debris"

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gods-Debris-Exp ... -1-catcorr

It is not deadly serious but it is compelling

In it Adams suggests that the internet, and specifically the social aspects of it are a positive force in the evolution of the human race. It will increase our collective intelligence and help us reach a more advanced consciousness.

I am not saying I agree, but it is worth a read and it isn't that long.

The internet won't kill communites but a tactical nuclear weapon would do a nice job. If you were that way inclined of course.
