The definitive World War 3 paranoia thread

Postby Jedi » Fri Feb 10, 2023 9:13 pm

Hello fellow forum members,

I'm starting this thread because ever since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, I've felt like tensions have been rising all around the world in a somewhat unprecedented way.

To name a few, there have been several incidents in the Taiwan Strait, the American ban on the Chinese chip industry, the usual North Korean cyber-rattling, Iran supplying Russia with weapons, Israel directly bombing Iran a few days ago, with the most recent being Balloongate, aka the Chinese sending that effing balloon flying over American mainland.

While I feel that a lot of what is happening is unprecedented I'd like to be clear that I think we're still extremely far from any kind of global conflict, but we're definitely trending toward that direction, more than ever before in my lifetime. Because of that, I think it would be good to have one central thread where we discuss and keep track of all of these smaller escalations, instead of having them spread over different 3 threads like "In the news today", "European Politics," and "American Politics."

For my first post I'd like to point to this newest piece of news:

Apparently, the U.S. military has just shot down a "high-altitude object" the size of a "small car" over Alaska. There's currently no information about what the object was, who owns it or anything about it, but there will be a press conference later with more information.

With the Balloon thing from a few days ago, my guess is It's the Chinese doing something again?

This reminds me of something I've always said

Wouldn't mind a WW3 if we get another Band Of Brothers series out of it.

Never seen it. If it's that good that you wouldn't mind a world war to get a sequel might have to check it out.

I do actually think we’re edging closer to a global conflict.
Nothing yet has ‘lit the blue touch paper’ but it’s getting very dangerous.
If the latest news proves true, that the US President ordered the blowing up of the Nordstream pipeline, we could be a lot closer all of a sudden.

The "latest news" you're referencing is just baseless speculation by Seymour Hersch, who hasn't provided a single shred of evidence to back up his narrative.

I'm afraid that with old age, just like Chomsky, he's been infected with the "America Bad" virus, and no longer has a balanced critique on US policy, but instead simply defaults to always going with the counter-narrative.

I'm still open to the idea that the US could be responsible for the Nordstream bombings, but I've seen the report and there really isn't any new information in there.

US aircraft shoots down new airborne object over Canada

Another unidentified object has been shot down over North American airspace, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has confirmed.

He said the latest object "violated Canadian airspace" and was shot down over Yukon in north west Canada.

Both Canadian and US aircraft were scrambled to track down the object which Trudeau says was taken out by a US F-22.

Trudeau says he gave the order and that he spoke with US President Joe Biden.

"Canadian forces will now recover and analyse the wreckage of the object," he wrote on Twitter.

He thanked the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) which earlier said it had been monitoring "a high-altitude airborne object" over northern Canada. NORAD carries out air defence for the US and Canada.

It is not clear what the object is.

But, its appearance over North America comes only days after a suspected Chinese spy balloon was shot down after violating American and Canadian airspace.

On Friday another object was shot down over Alaska at the orders of US President Biden.

In a short statement, the military said US troops, including from the Alaska National Guard, were still conducting search and recovery activities on sea ice for Friday's object.

It said it had no further details about the object's capabilities, purpose or origin but confirmed the FBI is helping with the recovery near the Alaskan town of Deadhorse.

"Arctic weather conditions, including wind chill, snow, and limited daylight, are a factor in this operation, and personnel will adjust recovery operations to maintain safety," it added - and the rescue operation will continue as weather permits.

Apparently, the pilots are giving conflicting reports about what they saw. Shades of the USS Nimitz UFO incident from 2004.
