Homosexuality Laws

Homosexuality Laws

Postby SE13 » Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:45 pm

Now these were abolished some fourty years ago in this Country. How much has changed, perhaps in your own lifetimes?

It seems to be a generally accepted part of society these days, but in 1967, it was strictly taboo. Even through most of my childhood, and early teens it was very frowned upon.

Thing is, The Bible talks of it (should you read that sort of stuff), Shakespeare and other Bards of similar stature have written about it some Centuries ago, all of which seems to have passed us by until the abolition of these laws. And even then it maybe took 35 or so years to be considered "normal".

What is your take on this, how do you feel about homosexuality, or have you been touched in some form by it?

Just keep it clean and above board please!

I personally have nothing agsinst homosexuality.

I remember years ago, especially at school when it was frowned upon. (A lad in my class came out and said he was gay). He was treated very badly.

I think if that had have happened nowadays he wouldn't have gone through all the shit he did.

You have celebs now such as Elton John, Will Young etc that publicly have said they are homosexual.

The only problem I have with it is other peoples views sometimes. How it is ok for women to be lesbians but not for blokes to be gay?

That's a load of crap, it's because they get sexual pleasure from women doing it.

Why?

Does it make a difference to you that all your friends are straight?

Believe me, just because a female friend is gay does not mean she will want to turn on an act for you, her concentration will be on her partner. And I'm fairly certain that what she does between the sheets is not what she wants to share with others, much as you wouldn't share your sexual experiences with others.

And male gays won't harm you. Just the same as hetrosexuals, they don't find everyone attractive!

I personally don't like gays, as 2 guys doing that to each other is disgusting, and it's also against my religion so I don't like them.

I have nothing against it. It does weird me out when two guys kiss in public though, maybe a little homophobic in that sense, but it's just something I'm not used to seeing.

Do I know any gay people? Probably. Bothered by it? Not at all. Whatever floats your boat....as the old saying goes.

It's not right. It ain't normal.

I detest the shirt lifting little bollock basher's.

Nothing like when the kids at school go on a queer bashing rampage.

Trina, you said a guy coming out now, at school, wouldn't get as much shit, I think it depends on where you live.

We're a nation of homophobes.

Look at the Ashley Cole saga last year, why should that have mattered to anyone? But it did,and we all still sing songs about it.

I don't actually approve of the homosexual ways.
But just because I don't approve doesn't mean anything.
I think it is wrong,
but I won't go out to all ends to stop them from being gay.
Just as long as the leave me alone and don't try and convince me to change my mind on gays,
I'll leave them alone and let them do what they want.

But the thing I hate most is when them and their supporters come up to you and try to make you feel like crap because you're not open minded or something.
They call you homophobes.
Well,
I think it works both ways,
no?
I think they are too closed minded to except that some of us just don't like it,
and that doesn't mean we are homophobes.

Ethics vs. Aesthetics

I don't have anything against gays, though I would never want to see a pair of them 'together', if you know what I mean. Let them be.

Even though people are more open about their sexuality nowadays it is still seen as taboo by a lot. A persons sexuality doesn't bother me and i feel that everyone has a right to express theirs whether they be gay or straight. As SE13 said just because someone is gay it doesnt mean they will find you attractive and yes it has always been around us but just not thought or spoken about. I disagree with it being more easy to come out because the predjudice is still there especially from people that are of the older generation.
