Arsenal 3 - 0 Ipswich

Having lost the first leg 1 nil, it was a tie which many felt was a potential banana skin in the quest for trophies on 4 fronts.
History weighed in as well with new manager Jewell knocking out the Arsenal before, spicing up the encounter before it even started.

Having dispatched Wigan and Leeds, the Arsenal is on a roll and spirits are high. And Arsene's team selection showed clearly he'll settle for nothing but a victory and a ticket to Wembley stadium.

Starting lineup read: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Koscielny, Clichy, Wilshere, Denilson, Fabregas, Bendtner, Arshavin, van Persie.

The Arsenal started with urgency and high tempo in a bid to overturn the first leg deficit, but there was to be no clear chances of notice early on. Infact, the only incident worth mention was Sagna being concussed after colliding with Sczzesny and having to be replaced with Eboue.

Up to this point, Ipswich was dealing with everything being thrown at them, but that meant all-hands on deck and hardly any chance for them as well. All in all, both teams cancelled out each other.

Midway through the first half, the first opportunity finally arrived with Van Persie meeting Bendtner's far post cross only to see the header cannon off the cross bar, unlucky.

Pressure started to mount and the Ipswich defence was beginning to look like a bag of sandbags holding out against a tsunami.

Wilshere was having a good game in midfield, threading passes around to create chances, but the elusive first goal still escapes us.

The first half ended all square, with the Arsenal 45 mins away from elimination and heartache.

The second half started in the same fashion as it ended in the first, more pressure, possession yet no goal.

But all that changed when Bendtner finally broke the deadlock in the 61st minute.
Wilshere spotted Bendtner lurking on the left wing and sent in a beautifully weighted ball.
Cushioning the ball down, Bendtner cut in and past a defender before curling a shot into the bottom corner with his right foot. :goal1:
1 nil to the Arsenal and Bendtner has silenced some critics who have started doubting his quality.

The opening goal has been scored and the floodgates opened.

With the opening goal, the Ipswich defence looked visibly deflated and minutes after the goal, Arshavin floated in a corner, with Koscielny jumping highest to meet the ball and head into the net.

2 nil and Koscielny raced away celebrating with a mini pregnant celebration. Could junior be on his way?

Now the aggregate stood at 2-1 with Arsenal leading the tie. Now Ipswich started to pour forward to force a draw.

However all hopes were finally put to rest when Fabregas scored in the 77th minute, with Arshavin threading a perfect return ball into the path for Fabregas to fire through the legs of the shellshocked Ipswich keeper.

Job completed, Arsenal leading 3 - 1 in the aggregate, and a date booked for a trip to Wembley stadium.
