Agree.

Van Persie's talent has never been doubted by anyone other than IMF, but his fitness and injury prone'ness is a complete joke.

Its all well and good him scoring a hat-trick but if he got injured tomo (Touches wood), lets face it, we would be f***ked...

I have always said this, when he is out of the team we make do with what we have up front, so Chamakh done a great job for us but we still wern't "there", but good enough, mainly due to Nasri carrying the team...

RvP comes back and all of a sudden we are turning over teams and generally look a much better package overall, then he goes out again and we have a usually huge dip in form, especially goal wise, we build ourselves up to the point where we are coping without him "just", he comes back, we do well, he goes out, we do shit.

Its a neverending cycle that has been going on for the last few years...

One hat-trick isn't going to make me believe that he can overturn an entire career of being injury prone, sorry to bring you all down to Earth but...enjoy it while it lasts.

Considering Squillaci won't be back for two weeks and we are going into quite a congested few weeks, i think AW would have to be clinically insane not to bring in another CB.

I agree, last I read though he couldn't find one....there must be someone!

He said nothing has clicked...

In other words he didn't find the next French African Maldini for 20p and packet of Maltesers.

His latest is

On the prospect of buying a defender...
I am open-minded on it and if the right opportunity turns up we will take it. We are not desperate, we have Vermaelen who can still play a big part in the end of the season and we have Squillaci who comes back maybe next Sunday. Song can play at the back too.

On finding the right player...
It is not two weeks to make your mind up, it is two weeks to find the right players. It is not just because you want to buy that you find exactly what you need. I think that if you look at the defenders who play the moment - we have Djourou and Koscielny, and Vermaelen who played before - we have always found the right players. Trust us - if the opportunity is there we will take it, if it's not we will play with the players we have, and I will not use that as an excuse if we don't win trophies.

On whether it is worth spending extra this time...
The question makes sense but practically it doesn't work like that. It is not because you have money available that you just find the player available, no? We have the needed money to spend if we want but the players you would want are not necessarily available. At the moment I feel that, unless we have a big problem at the centre back, we can deal with the situation.

If you actually watch it again, what Walcott did was very, very smart.

Or was he unsure what to do, then realized RVP was there to bail him out and got out of the way?

Either way, I want to give Walcott some grief :D

how about giving him some credit? you are an arsenal fan

Just what is up with him? And don't give that old fan chestnut because he hasn't been booed and he got a great reception today...

Time to move on?...

What is up with him is what I told and warned all of you guys about.

His confidence is gone. Thats what normally happens when people are constantly on your back even though you are scoring and producing assists.

Such as the wigan game where he scored and made an assist yet everyone was talking about him as he was the worse player on the pitch.

The way he is playing right now, he wouldnt even make it into a championship. He needs to be encouraged by the fans and the players that are around him. When one of your team mates is having a bad run of form that is the time when the rest need to make sure he comes through it.
