Man City Vs Arsenal | Premiership 24/10/10

Manuel suffered an elbow injury during the 3-2 defeat against West Brom on September 25. Speaking on October 21, Arsene Wenger ruled the goalkeeper out of the game against Manchester City when he said: "Almunia is very, very close but he is not yet completely confident on the stretch of his arm. He must be able to go with force into contact and he still has some pain there."

I wouldn't be too sure of that.

Because?

Interesting debate that, I really believe that it could go either way.
As Gunn said recently there are shades of the Almunia/Lehmann situation here and remember that Al kept his place while Lehmann was fuming on the bench.

It's hard to say what AW will do because there's always an argument for starting with your 'best' and most experienced eleven, but then if the replacement player is 'on fire' it seems very harsh (and in this particular case risky) to bench them.
Perhaps 'on fire' is a bit of an exaggeration but after today.......maybe not!
The question is, is he undroppable.....?

Chuffed with this result. Ended up consuming vast quantities of beer in the pub to calm my nerves when we only had a one goal cushion. Maybe im biased, but I get the impression that had we have lost, the pundits would have said "this shows that they cant be considered true title contenders" whereas now the focus will be on how well City battled with a man down, which in fairness, was imense. This clash was billed as a test of title credentials and I hope Hansen and co. dont try to squirm out of giving the gunners,as well as City, the praise they deserve after this performance. Denison was also pretty solid today. I still feel uneasy with him in the starting XI but the evidence suggests he's matured recently.

Yeah but that's two games in two and a bit seasons.
Last season we lost nearly every 'big' Prem game if I remember correctly.
We seem to do very well in the 'big' CL games but not so well in the Prem.

I dont want to see almunia in goal again. Even if fabianski manages to f**k up things now id rather see chesney in goal.

Almunia has had enough of a chance and we know he is not good enough.
