Sébastien Squillaci

Reports on the French channel Canal + and various French news outlets are saying SEBASTIEN SQUILLACI is set to be a gunner after Sevilla and Arsenal agreed a fee which is believed to be rising up to 8 million euros dependent on games and injuries. The player only managed 16 La Liga appearances last season after injuries took their toll but Wenger must rate the player and know as a back up he should be fine. He is 30 years of age so has the experience and is another French player to our French speaking defence.

They're talking to a French correspondent on Talksport now who's talking like it's a done deal.

Although apparently he's said that once SS puts pen to pad, Kos is going to be 3rd choice CB??

@Goose from what I've seen he's a "Walcampbell"

He is a good defender, lots of experience, well built, but is knocking on a bit.

Perfect backup IMO.

Speed of Theo, Brick Sh!thouse ala Campbell.

Sidenote. Everybody including IMF's most hated enemy John Cross have got hold of this story now.

French defender Sebastien Squillaci was last night pulled out of Sevilla's Champions League qualifier in the hopes of securing a move to Arsenal.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to have made a move for the 30-year-old France international who has 20 caps.

Sevilla would not want to jeopardise a deal by leaving him European cup tied and French TV station Canal Plus last night reported that Arsenal were discussing a move for the combative centre half.

Arsenal have missed out on Everton's Phil Jagielka and Werder Bremen's Per Mertesacker and Wenger is determined to bring in experienced defensive cover.
