Doesn't matter, that's simply the way you defend in a crisis situation where you don't have enough defenders; you force the player to make a decision and make a crisp good pass, you don't gift him a free route to goal. Rooney or Nani would've scored IF Park's pass was good, he may have fluffed it.
You have to at least test the player's ability to create an opportunity, and if you have another defender you then go to the player he passed to and press them to make a good pass etc. if you do this you can force errors sometimes that get you out of jail but if you let someone just walk through on goal they will most likely score.
