3-5-2 is destroying 4-4-2 (with mandzukic dropping deep)

Cracking free kick. This is typical Italy though, they go into a tournament with a cloud hanging over them, and who aren't expected to do much, and they play out of their skins.

Bet they wish they didn't take Mario off now.

2 games in a row he's gone off and there has been a goal pretty much instantly (for and against). :D

Game on. Italy have been quite subdued so far in the second half. After a great 1st half that is a bit strange.

Glad Webb has had the decency to stop the game. I thought Croatia were going to score again there due to Buffon being blinded.

the personel within it are well suited to it also, many Juve players who have been playing 3-5-2 for the majority of the season. Bonnuci and chilleini, with Gianncelli on the left. It's very, very effective against the 4-4-2, and it's shown the world how to stop spain and barca without stupidly parking the bus and getting lucky with spain having a bad day.

Only issue being the strikers upfront do need to play at their best, they have played well but just havent got the buisness done though sadly yet.

I think we could play a similar formation, i've always thought of Vermaelen as a sweeper, Beckenbauer type defender. And Santos is fantastic going forward.

true, i mean our wingers aren't scoring enough, Our wide men will simply patrol the wings, not cut in at all, just bomb down the sides providing support and crosses and defending. Sagna and Santos.

We could have RVP with either Giroud or Podolski alongside him!
