Good individuals certainly. The question is: can they play as a team? There are very big question marks over the central midfield ability to link the attack and defence. Veloso is in particular was poor in a recent friendly against Turkey. Mountinho has had a poor season and, for Portugal, often slows the attacks which works against a team who has top-notch wide forwards who are best playing at a fast direct tempo.

Not to mention their defensive problems.

The team has great potential but it will take a lot of work for Bento to get them to function at the high level they are capable of.
