If Ireland get some points in the tricky Russia, Slovakia away games then I do believe Ireland have a chance of qualifying by taking them on at home in the new Lansdowne stadium which will be packed to the rafters at 50,000 and the crowd will be right up near the pitch unlike Croke Park which was a disappointment for the atmosphere. I believe Trappattoni is building a good squad blending youth and experience. For the likes of Duff, Keane etc this may be the last major tournament for them to appear at (unless they find it in them to get another 4 years of decency)

Oh! I was under the impression that they were sticking with Croke Park.

If Lansdowne Road is ready in time, are both football and rugby moving back?

Lansdowne was completed in the last month. First game is a friendly against Argentina and they Manure also get a pre season friendly there against a team of the best the Irish League has to offer ;)

First rugby games to take place soon. Although its 30,000 less than Croke Park it is designed to keep the noise in so the atmosphere should be rocking!

The Clock End fraternity here will disagree with me, but I was never a fan of open terraces such as that one at Landsdowne Road, so hopefully for Ireland, they will now have a roof on all sides.

I am not too upset with our group. We have a lot of travelling to do BUT if everything plays out we really should qualify.
Trapp has the lads headed in the right direction and playing the way he wants. We wont be flashy but if we get to the Euros I don't care.

well ROI won away 0-1 (75th min Fahey) to Armenia who ever they are.

Love the pundits "it was a tough test but they got the win and thats all that matters, the 3 points"

Where are the comments like "struggled to break a team like this isnt a good sign of things to come" "should really of beat this team least 3-0" etc oh wait they only apply to England...

Armenia is beside Turkey and Iran Est

Anyway I was trying to watch and awful stream but it kept dying, what I did see we can count ourselves lucky. They should have scored early in the second half and we looked laboured to be honest. 3 points is 3 points, even if it is against absolute donkeys like Armenia. Not exactly happy about the performance but I'd be even less happy if they held us to a draw.

Jesus H Christ, we are playing at home and barely winning 2-1. Who the f**k allows Andorra to score when you are playing at home?

3-1 now. A bit more respectable, but at home we really should be putting 6 past teams like Andorra.
