Wenger - Chamakh will be back this week

Postby Trina » Wed Feb 01, 2012 10:48 am

Arsène Wenger has confirmed that Marouane Chamakh will rejoin the Arsenal squad by the end of the week.

The striker has spent the last three weeks away with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations but will return to Emirates Stadium after the Atlas Lions made an early exit from the competition.

Speaking ahead of Morocco’s clash against Niger on Tuesday, Wenger told Arsenal Player: "Marouane is playing his last game today, then he should be back in 48 hours.

“He played in the first game, and for the second game he was in hospital because he had a stomach bug, but he should play tonight.”

I know Chamakh hasn't exactly shone at Arsenal.

But he started with so much promise.

Is his lack of progress down to him not being good enough, or is it, at least partly, down to poor training from his manager?

I mean, he came in to offer a different prospect to RVP, so we could play a different more direct approach to him in the box, but then we expect him to change himself to mould into our style of play.

For his own sake, would he be better off leaving for a team that could utilise him more effectively?

I don't know the answer myself, I just hate to see talent go undeveloped.

:dontknow:
'I ran home immediately to my wife in excitement and said, 'I've seen the nearest thing to a Brazilian footballer you'll ever see in our Academy…..and he's from Lewisham!'

David Dein on Rocky Rocastle.

I wonder what Gazidis would have said......

Chamakh would not have even made it to the bench of a team like United forget playing eleven. Chamakh even when was prolific relied more on tap ins and scuffed shots. I am not saying he hasn't scored good goals but the percentage is very low. He neither has pace nor guile to get in to good positions. His heading ability is over-exaggerated. Chamakh is a mid-table level striker and not the one who should be in the squad of a top team. He has got more than his share of opportunities to make it here but he has squandered all of those.Forget his scoring ability, he gets dislodged off the the ball so damn easily off the ball its infuriating.

Or maybe we're just an average team.

Sounds about right.
