Chamakh Injured...

If you watch how we played against OM (I think it was) last time, when Chamakh started. The central player in the front 3 drops deeper at times, allowing the wide players space to run in behind the defense. Something you don't see much, if at all in the PL. The wide players in Europe also don't hold the ball wide outside the box in the last 15yds looking for a cross hardly as much. And that's almost the only place you find ours, apart from Gervinho who will get on the ball there and carry it in looking for the cutback to RVP.

Edit: the way we play really is much more akin to a 4-5-1 than a 4-3-3 imo...

I see what your saying, but when Chamakh started against Stoke he was doing exactly that, droping deep to stretch their backline and creating space for balls to Walcott/Gervinho...and he was still utter wank.

Ahhhhh yeah Stoke, is the match I was thinking of? I think it is.

Yeah Chamakh was wank still, but the wide players were getting more central and they had more scoring opportunities. Lead to the first goal. Gervinho was sneaking in centrally more yesterday too. I'm talking off the ball movement mostly btw.

With the front three of Gervinho, RVP, Walcott though it's wider, with Theo almost never cutting in along the endline only higher up if he does, then sending in a cross when he gets deeper. And Gervinho getting the ball wide on the endline and carrying it in.

This smells much like the injury Almunia had last year, or the one that kept Cesc out of the squad last spring so he could make the F1 race, but miss all the summer photo shoots.

 thats all we need.....

who`s going to mop the dressing room now :dontknow:

I'll do it for 1/4th the wages Chamakh was on.

dont think it's bogus as the almunia injury or lehmans injury before that man city game.
he has already been out of the starting lineup for almost a year soon but if it is a bogus injury then dont think we will ever see chamakh play 90 minutes again unless everyone else is injured

Actually feel sorry for Chamakh. Got off to a flyer last season and can't even put in a hallf decent performance. I don't know weather he misses a player like Cesc behind him to be feeding him in but it's just a weird one and i think he's days at Arsenal are becoming numbered!

I think he wasn't playing that well at the beginning of last year really...
with a lot of the goals he scored, the ball just seemed to hit him and go in

I've thought the same thing the whole time he's been playing for us
not one of his goals is quality, they are all tap ins or ones that he has lucked himself into
even the headers (which is his only real quality) aren't difficult

oh well, agree to differ then mate,i thought his 2 at wolves were quality strikers goals and he can luck himself into that situation all day for me

Chamakh was never a clinical finisher nor a creator even when he was in the form of his life .

1] He has a poor first touch for a striker .

2] He scuffs half his shots .

3] He is really reluctant to shoot . His first instinct is to pass the ball even when he is in an excellent position to strike .

4] He is easily brushed off the ball.

5] He drifts way too deep rather than staying inside the box .

The positives i can see in his game are

1] Hard working

2] Not a bad header of the ball

3] Happy chappy

4] Does not mind being on the bench

5] Team-man

Now if u see all his positives have nothing to with ability barring his heading which i am afraid has been over exaggerated.
