Chamakh Injured...

Chamakh is injured now apparently. Real shame that... :smartass: :hiding:

This smells much like the injury Almunia had last year, or the one that kept Cesc out of the squad last spring so he could make the F1 race, but miss all the summer photo shoots.

And rightly so with that goal in the CC.

Chamakh is more a 442 striker in the EPL, its a different kind of 4231/433 on the continent.

Rightfully so. Just wish they'd call a spade a spade and say Park's taken his place.

Hopefully this means we'll see more of Park.
He'll have to be on the bench at least tomorrow night.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Chance to give RVP some rest.

Mate, not questioning you at all, just interested; in you opinion, how does the 4-3-3 formation in Europe differ to the 4-3-3 in the PL?

Indeed, I'd like to see Walcott and Gervinho on the wings and Arshavin supporting Park up front with Song and Ramsey in midfield, Arteta could also do with a rest IMO.

The way we play the 4-3-3, the wide players at the top play much wider and don't cut in as much.

If you watch how we played against OM (I think it was) last time, when Chamakh started. The central player in the front 3 drops deeper at times, allowing the wide players space to run in behind the defense. Something you don't see much, if at all in the PL. The wide players in Europe also don't hold the ball wide outside the box in the last 15yds looking for a cross hardly as much. And that's almost the only place you find ours, apart from Gervinho who will get on the ball there and carry it in looking for the cutback to RVP.

Edit: the way we play really is much more akin to a 4-5-1 than a 4-3-3 imo...
