Adequate performance though it still left alot to chance IMO. Nice clean sheet however but the problem isn't our home form but our away form.

We still need a big dominant striker in January but a couple more results like this through till Jan and i will be very very happy.

Win our game in hand and we will go above the Mancs too.

dont think we need a new striker,

just play theo upfront for a few games, get him some easy goals like eduardo's and he can catch opposition back line off guard when its pushed up with his pace.

but then again a big guy could help usadd another tactic to our attacking play esp against other top teams, who arent gonna be chacing the game.

The main point of a striker is the additional options not strength in numbers, so yes a striker who is good in the air is something our team needs. Our team has a huge weakness but it's only apparent vs. certain teams or in certain games; we lack multiple routes to goal and we need to fix that in January if we want to challenge because this weakness shows itself mostly against the other top teams - we need to make ourselves as complete a team as possible for those encounters.

January is a BIG month in the deciding of the title race (we face Liverpool, United AND Chelsea within 3 weeks) and we need to be strengthened for that month because what we have right now might be enough to earn home victories against teams like Hull but it isn't diverse enough to consistantly compete with the big boys around us.

Kind of unrelated but: how many £$%&ing times is Motson going to comment on how Utd's defence is under-strength? Yeah, ok, it is but I don't hear much if any comments made about Arsenal being under-strength?

I don't mind the lack of analysis but I do mind the selective excuse-making for their pet teams.

Sorry for the late arrival (christmas drinks) but the Arsenal vs Hull player ratings thread is up so please post what you thought our players deserved to get by their performances this evening.

Also what was Almunia's penalty save like? Did he play well?

Save wasn't difficult to make. Not criticizing him but it was more about luck and how rubbish the penalty was, Giovanni hit it close to Almunia's right (about halfway between him and the post) so assuming he dived the right way I think it was a pretty much given save.

He played well, made some good saves, came out for crosses and controlled the box

That's good, hopefully he can start to build up steam in terms of performances. For 2 seasons we saw he was good enough, I don't think he is finished yet.

Well done Denilson on scoring our FIRST direct free kick since 2007

Two thousand and fecking seven!!!! That's how long it has been since we scored a direct free kick!! No more Nasri or RVP please. Give them to the boy Denny boy. What a fantastic kick.

and wenger said that denilson shouldn't have taken the freekick. wenger is a genie. nasri and cesc never scored from a freekick!?! rvp scored from a freekick a decade ago. let's denilson take them.

OOps - three of our best players on the day..!!

Pretty poor first half & starting to really feel the cold until Denilsons absolute cracker of a free kick. Second half we played a lot better as Hull had to press & try & get a goal. Still, it's still worrying to see Eduardo & Walcott missing some sitters.

All in all, a good solid win & made eben better that Liverpool & Man Uts both lost. All we need now is Chelsea to get beat..!!

We didn't think he would play on Sunday because he was suspended - that makes me think he has all the qualities to join Arsenal!
