David Cameron, if you’re reading, take note – Nigeria’s president has taken a harder line against his country’s World Cup failures than our lions are ever likely to face – banning the national squad from playing again for two years.

His government is also reportedly planning to dissolve Nigeria’s football federation – a move a spokesman said ‘would help Nigeria reorganise its football’.

‘This became necessary following Nigeria’s poor performance in the World Cup,’ said Ima Niboro.

Yet the move could bring punishment from Fifa, which bans government interference from the sport.

Nigeria could now be suspended from international competition anyway – and its delegates barred from Fifa meetings, votes and funding, according to the rules of the sport’s global governing body.

Nigeria lost two and drew one of their three 2010 World Cup matches, finishing bottom of Group B.

And midfielder Sani Kaita has already received death threats after being sent off in Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Greece.

Of the six African nations taking part, quarter-finalists Ghana were the only team to make it through the first round.

If only he did have the power...

Nigeria have put up poor performances in the past but this tournament was embarrassing.

From what I understand he's removing and investigating all the Administrators, conducting an Audit and hopefully recover some of the money those incompetent **** have been chopping for Lord knows how long.

That's pretty shameful. Government bodies shouldn't tell the national team what to do (unless its North Korea of course!)
