Considering 44 years that Germany have had to live with Geoff Hurst's "goal" I think its all even now.

f**k me, they couldn't have put a ball that size over!

Just wondering about a debate regarding the goal, but I just get the feeling everyone will say it changed the game. I've been banging on about it for the best part of three years here, and the best part of 10 years elsewhere....

It might have completely changed the game as it obviously would have been 2-2, but we shall never know. If I were English I'd pretend it wouldn't have made the slightest bit of difference as it would make the thumping you just endured all the worse.

They have a fourth official who has a TV screen on the sideline. Considering all the officials are miked up now, surely it would only take around 15-20 seconds to inform the referee that the ball crossed the line. Goal line technology is a must. More so for contentious decisions like this.

What goes around comes around. Pity it took 44 years. It's typical England though. They always have to create excuses and myths about why they went out, which means that they never have to look within at their own failings and ineptitude.

No. Germany would have thrashed that shit team regardless of if that goal was given. Would England have won the world cup in 66 if they didn't get that dodgy goal? HUGE difference.

In 1966 it was the "3rd goal". The Ryan Babel goal if you like. That was a killer blow and England wouldn't have scored the 4th.

Ain't close to even.

Lol you German now IMF? I just thought it was funny because of the two teams involved and how similar the two incidents were.

lol no I'm not German but you're not the first I've heard say it. You can't compare the two goals at all.

and who is doing that then? listen to the debates and even the half time analysis it was a cold realistic assesment of where we are. everybody wants to see technoligy brought in weather it works for or against you. the only people who still talk about england being a world power are the other british nations who enjoy the anyone but england mentality. most supporters of clubs in this country know that the national side are miles behind the top 7 nations in the world.you are pushing against an open door with that chip on your shoulder.thank f**k we can all go back to supporting the greatest club in the world.

I think this incident will hopefully bring in video technology even the man who is against it more than anyone was there tonight! Sorry England wouldn't of won not with that shit defence. But we can't keep having goals not awarded because the linesman or referee didn't see! We have video technology we should use it

I am all for GOAL LINE tech to be brought in but as Motson said, if we go down that route it will open a massive can of worms, soon they will want full tech brought in and IMO that would disrupt the flow of the game.

Imagine them calling for something as stupid whether it was a corner or not? Or a throw in?

It would never end.

Soon there would be clear cut goals being contested.

Like i said i am all for goal line technology but i don't think one can exist without the other.

If anything, i would rather see the 2 extra assistant refs implemented in the Premier League first.

No video technology should only be for goal line! It took 3 seconds for us to notice that was over the line. So i'm sure a forth official would of been able to pass word on to the referee. One of these days a major cup final will be lost because a goal is not given. I know 66 but we didn't have technology that we have now and we should use it

just use it for the downright obvious ie if a player goes down clutching his face when he has been tapped on the chest. if players start calling for the video like they wave imaginary cards it should be a card offence itself. if it takes more than 2 viewings by the 4th official to acertain what happened then you leave it to the ref.
i don,t like the idea of having a certain amount of formal challenges if something is clearly wrong the 4th official whispers in the earpiece of the ref.
i don,t want to win games unfairly,i certainly don,t want to lose 1
