Adidas Vs Nike Adverts

Postby Goose » Fri Jun 04, 2010 9:32 pm

Forget the World Cup, this is the big battle, who will be the global sports brand?

Adidas (world leading sports brand) vs Nike (former world leading sports brand)

Both companies have released their adverts for the World Cup:

Adidas advert, cool editing of a classic movie scene:

Original Star Wars Cantina scene

EDIT: Original Star Wars scene inserted

Nike advert, write your own future:

So which one is best?

You decide

I like the Nike one because I don't completely understand the adidas one

and also because I think the Nike one is cooler :)

I like both adverts, I prefer Nikes sportswear though.

Therefore, I am a jedi.

The Adidas one was done using footage from a famous Star Wars scene, but skillfully edited to put in Snoop Dog, Beckham et al, here is the original Cantina scene.

In write the future Ronaldinho, Walcott aren't in the World Cup and Drogba's injured.

So I'm guessing Rooney, Ribery and Ronaldo will get injured too.

The Nike one is funnier and I enjoy it right up until old oily pussface makes an entrance.

I wonder if Wenger knows Jedi mind tricks?

"This is not the midfielder you are looking for, go ahead and bid for Rooney and Torres"

I liked Star Wars episode 4, I sorta grew up watching it with my brother

I also remembered Nike's take it to the next level ad- that one was class :P

Everyone in the Nike ad has had one bad turn or a bit more

Rooney- screwed WC
Ribery- Knocked out in 1st round
Walcott- wasn't selected
Ronaldinho- wasn't selected
Drogba- knocked out 1st round
Italians + Cannavaro- knocked out 1st round
Federer- lost No 1 ranking just before the ad came out
Dempsey and Donovan- unlucky to crash out, could have made it worse against Slovenia
Fabregas, Pique, Iniesta (seem to have survived)
Ronaldo- didn't do a thing against Brazil

This use to be my favourite Nike advert. I just love it when he opens the door and the UTD team go "boo"

but i think this is everyone's wet dream, first time i seen it i thought it was cruel. Thats all of our fantasy's without doubt, well apart from Yorkyblue and the others..

Two really good ads... It's almost if Henry was being targeted by a serial killer or something
