Postby Sims » Thu Jul 04, 2019 1:35 pm

I know there’s a few audiophiles on here but I need a new speaker for use at home

Currently have like a JBL darth Vader helmet which is on the brink connected to my MacBook but want a good wireless one so I can blast some tunes

Any help would be great (budget can vary) - here’s looking at u Zen

My dad used to cream himself over his Denon speakers, Richer Sounds etc

Ive got a £160 philips surround sound system and its better than all his pricy gear

A pal of mine couldn't stop raving about the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2.

- Compact (about the size of a hand grenade)
- Light (less than 0.5 kg)
- Sturdy
- Waterproof
- Dustproof
- 360° sound delivery with the same wave consistency due to its shape
- 75 Hz – 20 kHz frequency range
- 100 ft signal range
- 15 hours battery life

Can't give you first hand review, but for what it's worth, he's not an easy one to please, with anything, but particularly when it comes to audio tech.

Price should be around 90 quid and it comes in 11 different designs.

All about my Yamaha Amplifier.

Fell in love with Yamaha ever since I got my first one in 1993-94.

I had a Denon not too long ago and I def prefer Yamaha, had to throw out the Denon in the end because the fkin thing couldn't go in Stand by without fkin up, you had to switch it on or off from the back, was so annoying.

I have my Yamaha hooked up to my PC so I can play iTunes straight through it.

It has to be Sonos, they really are superb. The use the Wi-fi to allow to control the music from your phone and listen to any radio station (worldwide) Spotify etc. Quality is great.

Hmm the thing is it just looks like a portable speaker lol, does it really have the bass and stuff of a proper set up? I’m not gonna take it anywhere it’s gonna literally sit on a desk the whole time

Unless the quality is that good

If portability isn't very relevant and if it's for home use only, go with a Wi-Fi system instead.

Bluetooth systems work with audio compression, meaning a loss of quality will occur. How great that loss is depends vastly on the quality of your speakers.

With WiFi, audio signals are conveyed via a lossless codec, meaning the digital bits of the receiver are identical to that of the source.

The only con about WiFi speakers is that they are can be tricky to set up and compatibility issues between your system and modem can occur. Before buying anything, make sure the frequency (or frequencies) the speakers can receive is compatible with the frequency of your network.

Something similar to this I reckon. I bought one literally years ago and its provided sounds for countless birthday parties in the house, hired halls etc.

Can remember the wattage but I suggest you pop down to your local currys or sony and test out a few

Bass is ridiculous, any phone connects to it, one plug, takes up f**k all space and f***ing tumps.

100% would recommend something like this.

Sony will make one for your budget. Once you decide, shop around online and you'll get it cheaper.

Tbf I misunderstood the size you're probs looking for. This speaker is more of a system that is good for a home/flat/garden party as oppose to a room.

Would still recommend as itll be worth still having for any home you move into in the future.
