Have you tried putting it into DFU mode and then restoring?
Tried that and didnt work.
What the hell is DFU mode though?
Plug in the ipod, make sure its backed up with itunes open, hold down the lock and home buttons for 10 seconds then only release the lock button, its the firmware restore mode. If that doesn't work its gone.
