Exactly.
It's ironic that people complain when a player is arrogant and yet when Chamakh plays he looks completely bereft of confidence. He actually looks terrified, like he's about to cry. I'll take arrogance over that any day.

Shezza is another one who is incredibly confident. Having balls of steel is essential if you're going to play against Barca at the age of 18.
He'd be nowhere without his confidence, look at Almunia.

The thing is he WAS good once, as was Arshavin.

I really don't know what happens to these players mentally. I mean wtf?

Arshavin has never been the same since Russia failed to qualify and Schmuck hasn't been the same since RVP took his place last season.
Are they so fragile mentally that one little thing fucks them up completely?

Was he really I can't remember him actually reguarly scoring goals (carling cup don't count)?

Who Schmuck?
He was pretty good for the whole of the first half of his first season, if that makes sense?

27 goals in 48 starts over those two seasons.

Some massively vital ones in 08/09.

Goodluck, you cocky bastard.

Funny thing is that Bendtner's confidence was knocked because he was played out wide and Arshavin's worst spell started when we suffered injuries and he was forced to play up front on his own. I wonder what Wenger his thinking with some of his team selections!

sad story. the guy has the potential but not the patience. ok, I also don't understand why starting chamakh over him and playing nic on the wings. but he can't also not expect to play in front of rvp.

He's had chances in his favoured position, cup games and friendlies as well as countless others over the years. As for being put out wide, bigger and better forwards have done a job on the wings and do you think Gerrard conmplained about being used at right back when he was breaking in to the side?

Players like Bendtner, Denilson, Merida and Bentley had all at their disposal but rather than knuckling down they felt they were owed their chance and whined. Its one of the few faults I give our youth system to be honest, they are heaped with so much praise without doing too much that their egos barely fit through the tunnel before they have even made a league debut!

He'll never be a world beater but he can be very effective if used properly.

His technique, first touch, passing were all a little suspect, and they didn't improve much no matter where he played. But one thing's for sure, he's a hell of a lot better than Chamakh, and it should be the Moroccan going out on loan before moving away permanently, not Bendtner.

I really don't understand the bitterness though. He was absolute shite for a very long time. Fans and pundits had all but given up on him, yet Wenger was there telling everyone how good he was, and for everyopne to be patient. Wenger stuck by him and yet he's being criticised.
