Will Chamakh 'kill' Bendtner?

Will Chamakh 'kill' Bendtner?

Postby Inchpräctice » Sat May 22, 2010 2:26 pm

We now have a good range of strikers again, all with different attributes but they can't all play at once.
The obvious player to be benched is Bendy because he's not as dangerous as Arshavin (save the conversations about his laziness for another thread).
So will this 'kill' Bendy's development as a player?

He had a great end to the season scoring what was it, 9 goals in 11 games after returning from injury?
Seems harsh to bench him after that but someone has to be.

Discuss.

P.s. this whole discussion could be rendered pointless because one of them will be injured in the first 10 minutes of the first game of the season thereby solving the problem.

More chance of killing Walcott than Bendy imo.

I think we have a lot of certain starters in our team which is good, the back four, Cesc + Song, RVP and Arsh.

Chamakh IMO has to come in and do something right away. He might be free, but Bendy has pretty much proven he can do a job and earned a shout at the final spot of the attacking 3. Walcott has also, but MUCH less frequently, so I'd say its going to be Bendy/Cham whoevers doing the business, but Walcott will hardly ever get a shout.

I would love to see a front 3 of Chamakh, Bendy and RVP when we're chasing games.

Bendy has a very good cross on him... a cross which'd be perfect for himself and probably perfect for Chamakher.

Will it kill Bendy's development? I hope not. Although I can see it doing just that unless Bendy starts the season on fire.

i think it will allow more rotation so to speak so hopefully less injuries when players playing in every match like sat weds sat etc

also gives a like for like sub, if chamakh is playing poor or struggling, least we can have a like for like sub where as we have got someone who is like rvp for example

I would play 4-4-2 again

rvp/theo-cesc-song-arshavin/nasri
---------chamakh---nic--------

with crosses from nasri and rvp that would be deadly.

and no. I don't think wenger will kill nic. nic did a great job. chamakh has proven nothing so far in the EPL.

No because he should never have been a starter in the first place. The fact he was showcases how thin our squad was last season. The bench is where he belongs for now.

jep, but during the game he would go forward to a 4-3-3. ok, I could also said 4-3-3

something like that during the game

But as I said, that involves benching Arshavin which is madness imo.

He he that is all out attack.

Maybe for the first time we'll have two players of more or less equal ability fighting it out and being rotated for the same position...?
It's been a long while since we've had that situation because our bench players have been so inferior to our starting players.

E.g.
Song >>> Denilson
Gallas >>> Djourou, Tweety or Senderos
RVP >>> Bendtner
Cesc >>> Diaby or Nasri
Gibbs is putting pressure on Clichy but Clichy is still quite safe for now.
The only other position I can think of is at right back where Sagna and Eboue are fighting it out but even then it's not direct competition because if Eboue doesn't play RB he plays on the wing.

Maybe this kind of direct competition is what our players need to keep them hungry....?

Lol, Bendy is not yet a starter for Arsenal. He has just gotten good and we are shocked to have quality in our subs for once.

I don't think that we should rely on Bendtner COMPLETELY if RVP is injured. I'm not holding anything against him but we need someone that can play for 2/3 of the match then switch. I don't think he has enough at his age and Chamakh can step in there.
