Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been fined by the club for his antics in the wake of their UEFA Champions League exit.

The Gunners crashed out at the semi-final stage at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening as Manchester United cruised to a 3-1 success to progress 4-1 on aggregate.

Denmark international Bendtner was then pictured leaving a London bar in the early hours of Wednesday morning somewhat the worse for wear and having suffered what could only be described as a 'wardrobe malfunction'.

When asked if was disappointed with Bendtner's antics, Wenger told Sky Sports News: "Yes. That is not acceptable and he has been fined by the club."

Meanwhile, Wenger has warned his players that he will have the sole say on the club's transfer policy after a fourth season without silverware.

Emmanuel Adebayor claimed the club have 'gone backwards' this season, while Manuel Almunia feels that more experience is required to secure silverware next season.

Emirates Stadium boss Wenger feels his squad should concentrate on their performances on the pitch, rather than be concerned about off-field affairs.

Cesc Fabregas is confident Arsenal's young squad can bring success back to Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are preparing to end a fourth consecutive season empty-handed, with their last opportunity to land some silverware this term extinguished by Manchester United in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

For the first time in his reign, Arsene Wenger has begun to see his policies and tactics questioned, with some supporters beginning to grow restless.

At just 22, Fabregas is seen as the leader of the new Arsenal, with his responsibilities as captain placing added responsibility on his young shoulders.

However, the Spaniard is confident he can meet the expectations placed upon him and has backed his manager and team-mates to deliver a long-awaited trophy in the not too distant future.

"It has been a difficult season. For a young squad like ours we did quite well," Fabregas said in the Evening Standard.

"It is tough, but you have to stand up and look to the future. If we keep going and keep the team together, I am sure this team will have a lot to say in the future."

Changes
While Fabregas believes Arsenal already possess the potential to be challenging for honours, there are those that feel the Gunners lack the necessary experience required to be successful on a consistent basis.

Spanish keeper Manuel Almunia understands that argument and he feels Wenger must look to bring in fresh faces over the summer in order to rectify the problem.

"The Arsenal team is a good team, a good squad but fans expect more from us and who knows maybe we need some changes to the squad in the summer," he said.

"But the responsibility is with the boss, who understands what the club needs most and which decisions need to be taken."

Even though I don't think what he did was extremely wrong, he is a professional footballer at the end of the day, and its part of their job to act like a professional, so if things like this happen I don't blame the club for fining him, they have to do something or all the other players may run ramped too, especially a team as young as ours. Is not as if he'll be broke after this anyway.

Too many players telling the BOSS what to do. We will sign who Wenger want's to sign. Cesc, Almunia and that Fu**er Adebayor should do their talking on the pitch and shut up.

It's only right and proper that he gets fined. Standard club policy really and he doesn't deserve any special treatment.

Well exactly. He's just a bit of a lightweight because he still had his boxers on. Should've been stark bollock.
Oh well he's young, he'll learn.
