Shava 'in the hole'

Shava 'in the hole'

So Wenger has finally admitted what many already knew: that Shava's best position is behind the main striker.
Would youse like to see him played in that position as cover for Santi?
Certainly whenever we've played him there he looked pretty effective. At least moreso than sticking in front of the left back.

Whaddaya reckon?

The further away from the defence he is, the better. And I think Wilshere and Rosicky are better options there when fit.

Yes, yes I would.

Although perhaps not as direct cover for Cazorla. Meaning that if he got injured or simply wasn't playing but we had an otherwise full squad to chose from (haha, as if) then there's other players I'd rather see in the side over AA.

But yes, if and when Arshavin plays, it needs to be off the striker. Not on the wing.

That would be his best position. I still want him to go in January though, He is on too much money. FACT.
I want Carl Jenkinson back in a Arsenal shirt next season.

There is a big difference between the role Cazorla plays for us and the role Arshavin plays for Russia. For Russia Arshavin plays just off the main striker while Cazorla plays just ahead of the two Central mids. Arshavin can excel playing in the hole in a 4-4-1-1 but in a 4-2-3-1 his defensive work-rate or the lack off it would be a major hindrance. The position which Cazorla plays is not just about bombing forwards and getting in the box it is also about tracking back and provinding support to the midfield due when we are under the counter. If we play Arshavin as a CAM in 4-2-3-1 offensively we may be alright but it will come at the cost of defensive solidity. Yes Arshavin can be played through the center but not in a 4-2-3-1 that we employ. So Arshavin unfortunately has to be utilized on the flanks cos we do not play the kind of formation where he will be useful centrally. Rosicky, Diaby and Wilshere[I know his best position is as a CM] are far better options in the CAM spot as a backup to Cazorla.

Arsha is a perfect No. 10 to use in the FA Cup. Only problem IMO is when will we play Rosicky at this rate. He earned his spot in the team last season and won't like it to be taken by someone who wasn't trying half as hard as him less than a year ago.

Not gonna repeat what i've said at least 5 times, he simply belongs on the CAM spot and nowhere else, especially now when he's growing a bit older and starts losing his pace which is [especially in his case] required out wide.
He's probably going to walk out for free but i'm concinced in terms of goals and assists he can be more productive than TR7.
In terms of devotion, work-rate and discipline TR7 is way ahead of AA23, so when both are fit and Caz is injured/suspended or simply needs a rest, i'd make my decision between AA and TR based on who the opponents are.

Edit: Looks like I did repeat it after all.

Yep, It's good that Wenger has finally acknowledged this fact. Rosicky and Arshavin should be decent enough cover for Cazorla and Wilshere, if as his number 10 suggest he will be playing a more advanvced role when he returns fully

3rd choice in the hole for me. He's too inconsistent.
