His positioning has sod all to do with it, it's a myth ffs.

He played LWF for us, for Zenit and for Russia

Albeit with more of a free-roaming role but that does not constitute a diff' position.

Cannot believe this is even being brought up. Shava had his chances, it didn't work out. He has 3 good halves for Russia at the Euros and now he's the answer to all of our prayers.

The Arshavin in the 2nd half of Russia v Poland was the Arshaving Gooners saw all too often.

So Vermaelen struggling for MONTHS to get his old form back after being played as a LB for about 14 consecutive weeks is a myth aswell?
Come on, being played out of position for a long term can definitely affact a player's form and development.

LWF is the position he played for Arsenal/Zenit AND Russia...

He just had a more 'flowing' role for the latter 2. There was no 'different position'.

Effort has nothing to do with form and position Zenith. Arhsavin was a lazy prick who only wanted to play one way. As TRA pointed out when he first came to light at Zenit he was playing out wide so I fail to see what his problem was doing the same for Arsenal.
He didn't put in the effort at both ends of the pitch and a few decent shows at the Euros do not change that.

Keep him - when our injury crisis hits we will need him. We need his creativity, technique and vision.

No, he isn't a carthorse who will give you 50 solid games a season. But he could be the difference between winning and losing when it most matters.
