Wenger - I don't want to lose Arshavin

Wenger - I don't want to lose Arshavin

Postby Trina » Fri Jan 20, 2012 11:12 am

Arsène Wenger has no intention of selling Andrey Arshavin.

The Russian playmaker has been linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium but Wenger remains a big admirer of the 30-year-old and praised his "efficiency" only last week.

Arshavin is about to mark his third anniversary as an Arsenal player and his manager wants him to stay longer.

"On top of [our injuries], we cannot lose players of that quality," Wenger told Arsenal Player. "It is too difficult."

Watch the full interview with Wenger on Arsenal Player from Friday.

I'm convinced that Wenger reads fan forums and social networking sites to see what the majority of us fans want for the club................then does the complete opposite.

That doesn't mean he won't leave in the summer.
As much as I think Shava has seen his best days it would be foolish to sell him. And I'll tell yous why: he wouldn't buy a replacement in this window.
You know it, I know it, the whole world knows it.
What Wenger should do now is give AOC a run in the side. Dump Shava into the periphery of the squad. Only to be used when others aren't available.
Then sell him in the summer.

Wenger is probably only saying that to divert media and fan criticism away from Arshavin. Like gza said, the best option would be to use Arshavin sparingly (i.e. off-the-bench cameos) from now till the end of the season and then offload him in the summer.

EDIT:
...Although, knowing how this club operates, Arshavin may very well still be an Arsenal player come the 2012/13 Season
