Zenit ready to take Arshavin back

Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin is being courted by his former club Zenit St Petersburg.

The 29-year-old Russia forward set the Premier League alight last season but has been poor in the current campaign, managing just four league goals in 21 games.

Zenit’s sporting director Igor Korneev said: “With Andrey, it is very simple. He graduated from our club and the doors are always open for him.

“We would always welcome him back to the club, whether that is now or in the future.”

I'd still like him here.

It looks as though he's starting to improve. It's only recently that he's no longer a garunteed starter. If he puts in the hard work, and we start to see the old Arshavin, thne I'm all for keeping him.

However, his work ethic (even at his best) has always been questionable. We can't beat Barca with players like him in the team.

A bit of a radical proposal here but it might be good to put him on loan? Perhaps to Zenit, perhaps elsewhere, to re-discover his 2009 form.

Like Massa I'd still like him here but he's just been a liability in the last year or so
