Shava 09/10 Season

Postby She_Gunner_Wales » Mon Jul 20, 2009 12:38 pm

What are your hopes for the coming season for Arshavin?

Having made just 12 appearances & scoring 6 goals, 4 of which are against Liverpool, and crediting himself with 7 assists in the few months remaining of the league since his arrival in January in comparison with RVP's 11 goals & 11 assists in 28 appearances, how do you think he will fair this coming season.

Do any of you see him surpassing Van Persie's tally of last season, oblivious of where he will play which could well be as a support striker with the return of Rosicky to the squad.

In a perfect world, Rosicky will regain his position on the wing and Arshavin will move in the SS role, with RVP/Eduardo as the target man.

I think with Arshavin as a SS whoever plays as striker will get a good amount of goals

Don't see no reason why we couldn't accomodate two of Shava/Nas/Tommy on the wings. The right wing berth has been a problem oft recent times and although Theo has shown potential I'd like to see Tommy become a starter there once he's fully fit.

I want to see Shava play in the hole behind the main striker, well that's if we only play one up front.

To stay fit. In fact, that is my hope for all our players.

Think Arshavin will continue on the left, and hopefully Rosicky is fit enough to make the right side his own. Nasri could/should be back-up to both them & cesc with Walcott as a super-sub off the bench. Obivously everyone will expect big things from Arshavin after how quickly he adapted to the EPL, a winger that not only gets assists but also scores goals regularly, another one of those and we'll have wings to rival the days of Bobby & Freddie.

One of the few times we actually agree on something! :frogwink:
I got this gut feeling we will be playing as more of a 5-4-1 formation more often than not for 09/10.

TBH no matter where he plays i can see him getting well into the double figures, on both goals scored & assists, especially if his 1st 12 games are anything to go by, providing he stays injury free. Feel free to quote me back here this time next year.

It's Arsh But Fair for Big Andrey

The Sun wrote:ANDREY ARSHAVIN admits he is not yet fully fit and can only play 20 minutes at a time.
The Arsenal strike ace came off the bench to net in Wednesday night's 3-1 Champions League win against Celtic.

Arshavin, 28, said: "I'm still heavy and Arsene keeps telling me that.

"I don't want to learn how to come into the game from the bench but, at the moment, it's right to play just 20 minutes.

"It's not long enough to lose my freshness."

Russian star Arshavin believes Manchester City and north London rivals Tottenham can gatecrash the top four this season.

He said: "Naturally the Big Four are still the favourites. But Tottenham look very good, too.

"And in my opinion, City will also be involved in the title race."

Well I guess you should've trained harder in pre-season then instead of constantly moaning that you hate training...

What a load of old crap.
Arsh was there throughout pre-season and trained just as much as anyone else.
