We've been charged for plastic bags as long as I can remember... What's the fuss? It's peanuts.

Toss out the oranges or bananas into another box and you have a free box to carry your shopping (that is if your doing a few pick ups ) :).

Tbh in about a week nobody will give a crap. It's just an annoying pain in the ass that won't stop anybody using them tbh, 5p? Dat bank balance hit! Plus you can use 6 and pretend you only used 1 if you do self check out.

They should just abolish carrier bags if they're that bothered and force more environmentally friendly ones as the only option. Otherwise just f off and clean them up better.

We've had this in Wales for a few years & don't really notice it anymore. It's just about good habits, take a bag if you go shopping. If you don't pay a few extra pence - who really gives a shit ?

The future isn't in Oil or jewels ........ its carrier bags.

"Hey man want to buy this gold at a good price?" can I carry my food in it? then no I'll stick with my carrier bags thanks.

I can see it now, my Nan is probably stacking carrier bags like she stocked up on tinned goods in WWII.

Wheneer I'm at the airport or train station and buy something, i'll ensure I get a free bag since they're exempt from this new tax.

B&Q wanted 5p from me today, can't remember if Tesco's charged me or not?

Its an absolute embarrassment, biggest of all is that for 70 years+ this was never a "must" thing and after all this time they try to force this crap on the shopping industry?

If it was so important why not do it 20 years ago? absolute sham.

Could at least only charge 2p or something, most of us would be happy to part with loose coppers.

All companies which employ over 250 staff must charge 5p by law

Its not the 5p I care about. Its the nonsense of being told that I'm a terrible person for using plastic bags when that is usually all thats on offer. Should I ballance my shopping on my head instead? Am I supposed to permanently carry a rucksack around in case I decide to do some food shopping?

Have to agree with you here (never thought I'd say that) IT is all this that I don't like about it plus the fact that it is another tax on normal people despite Cameron's pledge to not raise taxes. If they did it in a manner such as it rounds the cost of shopping up to the nearest £1 or 10p, then I wouldn't have minded so much as it would make it easier. But 5p extra when you're buying something that ends with 99p mean you now have to juggle with more change is unnecessary and is only wanted by the eco-nazis.

Just get the big bags for life.

Those little plastic bags should be phased out.
